Abstract

The present invention provides an improved bitumen mix/ concrete and the method for preparing the same. The bitumen mix/ concrete of the present invention comprises synthetic fibers, aggregate and bitumen in a suitable proportion wherein said fibers get coated with the bitumen providing a better bridging-joint and continuity between the aggregates thereby improving the flexibility, stability of the bitumen concrete. The synthetic fiber is a solid/hollow synthetic fiber having perforations, ribbed or corrugated surface for providing better bonding with aggregate and bitumen. The roads paved from the improved bitumen mix/concrete have improved properties of resistance in tracking at high temperatures, splitting at low temperatures resulting in substantial reduction or no shrinkage crack and specular crack spalling resistance, melting temperature, abrasion resistance, improves water stability, reduces the maintenance cost.
