Description
PATIENT BED
Technical Field
[1] The present invention relates to a bed for a patient, and more particularly to a bed for a patient in which a drainage unit for a chamber pot and a cover unit are simplified to reduce manufacture costs. Background Art
[2] Generally, various beds for patients are known in the art, and the present invention provides an improvement of such a bed for a patient, which allows a patient to relieve nature in the bed.
[3] A common bed for a patient includes a bed frame, protection frames lifted at both sides of the bed frame, a mattress placed in these frames for a patient to lie down thereon, and a table rotatable at one side of the bed to be rotatable thereon. In addition, a mattress control handle is installed in a lower space of the bed to stand a lower or upper portion of the mattress.
[4] However, in case that a patient not easily moving gets along on the bed for a patient, the patient may not go to a toilet due to the inconvenient behavior and he/she should relieve nature using a separate bedpan by help of a guardian on the bed. However, in order to solve the physiological function, many difficulties are generated to the guardian as well as the patient to suit the bedpan to the patient.
[5] Accordingly, various means have been proposed to solve the above problems.
[6] One example is disclosed in Korean Utility Model Registration No. 306230, invented by the same inventor of this application. This utility model is directed to relieving nature on a mattress, wherein a case including a forward/rearward moving body provided with a chamber pot and a sealing body, which are moved forward or rearward and lifted by a moving means and a lifting means provided therein to be se¬ lectively inserted into a through hole formed in a mattress, is connected and fixed to a bed frame below the through hole.
[7] According to the above configuration, the sealing body is inserted into the through hole at ordinary times so as to give a common bed function. At this time, if a patient desires to relieve nature, he/she pushes a manipulation button, and then the sealing body descends by the lifting means according to the signal and then deviates from the through hole. In addition, as the moving means is operated, the moving body is moved rearward along rails provided in the case. The chamber pot is then lifted into the through hole by means of the lifting means.
[8] After the chamber pot is inserted as mentioned above and the patient relieves
nature, the above procedures are progressed to the contrary so that the sealing body is lifted into the through hole. The chamber pot retrieved according to the above process is than taken out by a nurse from the side of the bed, then managed, washed and then recombined for the next use.
[9] However, if there is no nurse beside the patient who uses the bed for a patient, excrement of the patient is not treated until the nurse comes back, which causes bed smell in the indoor space and results in uneasiness to the patient and other persons.
[10] In addition, a nurse should treat the chamber pot containing excrement by himself/ herself as in the conventional bed. Moreover, since the chamber pot is positioned below the bed, it is inconvenient to recombine the chamber pot to the bed after washing.
[11] Accordingly, Korean Utility Model Registration No. 343449, invented by the inventor of this application to solve the above problems, is disclosed. This technique includes a bed having a mattress with a through hole vertically formed at its center and a frame supporting the mattress and including a plurality of legs; a excretion case connected and fixed to the frame below the through hole and including a forward/ rearward moving body provided with a chamber pot and a sealing body moved forward or rearward and lifted by means of an operating means provided therein to be se¬ lectively inserted into the through hole; a cover means provided at the front of the excrement case and having a cover for sealing an upper portion of the chamber pot when the forward/rearward moving body is advanced; and a washing means for supplying washing water to a lower portion of the cover and draining the washing water filled in the chamber pot.
[12] Thus, the bed for a patient configured as above allows a user to relieve nature without moving hardly since the sealing body and the chamber pot are linked and inserted/taken out through the through hole in a lower space of the mattress with the through hole by means of simple manipulation. In particular, after relieving nature, excrement contained in the chamber pot is cleanly treated by means of the washing means, so a nurse may not treat the chamber pot directly and the indoor circumstance may be kept agreeably.
[13] However, the washing means includes a plurality of through holes formed in the cover, a washing water supply pipe fixed to an upper portion of the cover and having a plurality of nozzles inserted into the through holes to inject washing water into a chamber pot from outside, a discharge pipe provided to a lower portion of one side of the chamber pot to discharge wasted water filled in the chamber pot, and a collecting vessel having an opening in its upper portion so that the discharge pipe is inserted therein through the opening and to which a drainage pipe for draining out wasted water introduced through the discharge pipe is connected.
[14] At this time, since the discharge pipe provided to the chamber pot and the collecting vessel connected to the discharge pipe are connected in a complex way, manufacture costs for the washing means are too high. [15] In addition, since wasted water is always filled in the collecting vessel, bad smell is generated in the indoor space.

Technical Problem
[16] The present invention is an improvement of a conventional invention, invented by the same inventor of this application, and is directed to providing a bed for a patient that may prevent generation of bad smell with simplifying pipe connection linked to a drainage means of a chamber pot.
[17] Another object of the invention is to provide a bed for a patient, which allows to supply water into a chamber pot by manual operation and also supply water to the chamber pot after relieving nature without manipulation of the patient or a nurse.
Technical Solution
[18] In order to accomplish the above object, the present invention provides a bed for a patient, including a bed having a mattress with a through hole vertically formed at a center thereof; and a case provided below the through hole and including a forward/ rearward moving body provided with a chamber pot and a sealing body moved forward/rearward and lifted by means of an operating means provided therein to be se¬ lectively inserted into the through hole, wherein an insert groove is formed in an inner side of an upper portion of the chamber pot, and a cover plate is provided to a front portion of the case to be protruded rearward through a vertical stand and inserted into the insert groove when the chamber pot is advanced, wherein a water putting unit to which a water supply pipe including an opening/closing means is provided is connected to the cover plate so as to inject water into the chamber pot, and wherein a drainage means having a plurality of length-adjustable pipes connected to an external draining pipe through the forward/rearward moving body and the case is provided to a lower portion of the chamber pot so that wasted water in the lifting and forward/ rearward moving chamber pot is drained out. [28] In addition, the water putting unit 5 is provided to the cover plate 4 to put water into the chamber pot 21 through a water supply pipe 51. The water putting unit 5 includes a plurality of injection nozzles 53 provided to the cover plate 4 and connected to the water supply pipe 51, and an opening/closing means 52 provided to the water supply pipe 51 to open/close for supply of water. That is to say, the opening/closing means 52 includes an opening/closing valve 521 provided to the water supply pipe 51, and an opening/closing switch 522 provided to the bed 1 to open/close the opening/closing valve 521 by manual operation of a patient or a nurse.
[29] In addition, the drainage means 6 is provided so as to drain wasted water in the chamber pot 21 that is lifted and moved forward/rearward.
[30] That is to say, the drainage means 6 is provided to a lower portion of the chamber pot 21 and connected to the external draining pipe 7 through the forward/rearward moving body 2 and the case 3, and is composed of a plurality of pipes being inserted with each other to allow adjustment of their lengths.
[31] It is not described below in more detail.
[32] As shown in FlGs. 1 and 3, the drainage means 6 include a first draining pipe 61 vertically provided to the chamber pot 21, a third draining pipe 63 horizontally provided to a rear portion of the case 3 and connected to the external draining pipe 7, a second draining pipe 62 having vertical and horizontal pipes 621, 622 provided to bend a lower plate of the forward/rearward moving body 2 perpendicularly so that the first draining pipe 61 is inserted into the vertical pipe 621 to be capable of lifting and the horizontal pipe 622 is inserted into the third draining pipe 63 to be capable of moving forward/rearward, and a plurality of packings 64 provided to connections of the first, second and third draining pipes 61, 62, 63 to prevent wasted water from being leaked out.
[33] In addition, a drainage trap 631 is further provided to an intermediate portion of the third draining pipe 63 so as to prevent bad smell from flowing back through the chamber pot 21. That is to say, the drainage trap 631 preferably employs a S-shaped drainage strap commonly known in the art.
[34] Meanwhile, as shown in FlG. 2, wherein the operating means 23 includes a forward/rearward moving unit 231 having a rail that makes the forward/rearward moving body 2 movable in the case 3 in a forward/rearward direction, a forward/ rearward rack shaft 231a vertically fixed in the case 3, and a forward/rearward moving motor 231b provided with a forward/rearward pinion 231c fixed to the forward/ rearward moving body 2 and rotated in engagement with the forward/rearward rack shaft 231a; and forward/rearward lifting operating units 232, 233 having vertical rack shafts 232a, 233a mounted to front and rear portions of the forward/rearward moving body 2 below the chamber pot 21 and the sealing body 22 to be capable of vertically lifting, and lifting motors 232b, 233b provided with pinions 232c, 233c fixed to the forward/rearward moving body 2 and rotating in engagement with the vertical rack shafts 232a, 233a to lift the vertical rack shafts 232a, 233a.
[35] In addition, the operating means 23 further includes a manipulation panel 234 (see
FlG. 1) provided to one side of the bed 1 to operate the forward/rearward moving motor 231b and the lifting motors 232b, 233b.
[36] Hereinafter, operation of the bed for a patient according to the present invention is described as follows.
[37] As shown in FlGs. 1 to 3, when a patient relieves nature with lying down, the patient or a nurse manipulates the manipulation panel 234 so that the chamber pot 21 is inserted into the through hole 121 formed in the mattress 12, and then the patient may relieve nature.
[38] After the patient relieves nature, the manipulation panel 234 is manipulated so that the chamber pot 21 is deviated from the through hole 121 and the sealing body 22 is
inserted therein instead of the chamber pot 21. Then, the chamber pot 21 is deviated below the through hole 121 and descended to the forward/rearward moving body 2, and the chamber pot 21 is advanced toward the cover plate 4 by means of forward movement of the forward/rearward moving body 2.
[39] Then, the insert grooves 42 formed in both sides of the chamber pot 21 are hor¬ izontally inserted into the cover plate 4 provided at the front of the case 3, which makes the upper portion of the chamber pot 21 sealed.
[40] After relieving nature, the opening/closing switch 522 fixed to one side of the bed 1 is operated to open the opening/closing valve 521 of the water supply pipe 51, and then washing water is supplied to the chamber pot 21 through the water supply pipe 51. The supplied washing water is injected into the chamber pot at high pressure through the injection nozzles 53 provided to the cover plate 4. Then, the injected washing water pulverizes excrement contained in the chamber pot 21 and washes inside of the chamber pot. After washing the inside of the chamber pot, the wasted water passes the drainage means 6 provided to the lower portion of one side of the chamber pot and is then discharged to a water-purifier tank through the external draining pipe 7.
[41] That is to say, the drainage means 6 is capable of draining out wasted water in the chamber pot 21 that is lifted and moved forward/rearward, as shown in FlG. 2. In addition, since the drainage means 6 is connected to the external draining pipe 7 provided to the lower portion of the chamber pot 21 through the forward/rearward moving body 2 and the case 3 and is composed of a plurality of length-adjustable pipes, the drainage means 6 is shrunken together when the chamber pot 21 is lifted or moved forward or rearward.
[42] To describe operation of the drainage means 6 in more detail, when the chamber pot
21 is lifted, the first draining pipe 61 is lifted inside the vertical pipe 621 of the second draining pipe 62, so the length of the first draining pipe 61 may be varied. In addition, if the forward/rearward moving body 2 is moved forward or rearward, the horizontal pipe 622 of the second draining pipe 62 is moved inside the third draining pipe 63, so the length of the horizontal pipe 622 may be varied.
[43] Thus, in case that the chamber pot 21 is lifted or moved forward/rearward, lengths of connection portions between the first and second draining pipes 61, 62 and between the second and third draining pipes 62, 63 are varied, so wasted water filled in the chamber pot 21 may be easily discharged through the drainage means 6 composed of the length-adjustable first, second and third draining pipes 61, 62, 63.
[44] In addition, since a plurality of packings 64 are provided to the connection portions of the first, second and third draining pipes 61, 62, 63, it is prevented that wasted water is leaked out.
[45] Meanwhile, FlG. 4 shows an opening/closing means according to another
embodiment of the present invention. The opening/closing means 52 of this embodiment includes an opening/closing valve 523 provided to the water supply pipe, an opening switch 524 provided to an inner side of a front plate of the case 3 and operated by advance of the forward/rearward moving body 2 to open the opening/ closing valve 523, and a closing switch 525 provided to the bed 1 to close the opening/ closing valve 523 by manual operation of a patient or a nurse.
[46] Thus, if a patient moves the forward/rearward moving body 2 forward by ma¬ nipulation of the manipulation panel 234 after relieving nature, the cover plate 4 covers the upper portion of the chamber pot 21. Also, at the same time, the front portion of the forward/rearward moving body 2 pushes the opening switch 534 of the water putting unit 5, provided to the inner side of the front plate of the case 3. Thus, the opening valve 523 provided to the water supply pipe 51 is opened by operation of the opening switch 534 so that the water is injected into the chamber pot 21 through the water supply pipe 51.
[47] Then, after a certain time, the closing switch 525 provided to the side of the bed 1 is manipulated to intercept water introduced into the chamber pot 21, which completing the washing work for the chamber pot 21. This gives a bed for a patient that may be more easily manipulated. Industrial Applicability
[48] As described above, the bed for a patient according to the present invention may minimize production costs by simplifying configurations of the drainage means and the cover means of the chamber pot.
[49] In addition, since water may be injected into the chamber pot without any ma¬ nipulation after relieving nature, the bed for a patient of the present invention may be used in a more convenient way.
[50] The present invention has been described based on preferred embodiments with reference to the accompanying drawings, but it is obvious that various modifications may be made by those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the present invention. Therefore, the scope of the invention should be understood by the appended claims including such various modifications.
