Abstract

A communication headset for attachment to the inside of a protective helmet includes a resiliently flexible member extending between first and second ends and an earphone supported by the member proximate to the first end. The flexible member has a biased state in which there is a loaded distance (D-loaded) between the first and second ends and an unbiased state in which there is an unloaded distance (d-unloaded) between the first and second ends. The loaded distance is less than the unloaded distance so that the flexible member can be biased for loading within the protective helmet, with release of the loaded (flexed) member permitting the first and second ends to move toward the unbiased state within the protective helmet and engage the interior of the protective helmet.
