Abstract

A replaceable LED system adapted to selectively transform the unidirectional glow of the LEDs / LED chips and/or any other semiconductor light emitting device into a more uniform glow for better visual appeal along with providing the system as a shock, vibration resistant and unbreakable unit for wide scale and safe application and use. The LED system of the invention avoids the inherent limitation of LEDs in generating unidirectional glow / illumination and favours a comfortable wider uniform visual glow / illumination from LEDs even in directions other than the direction of installation of the LED. The LED system is suitable for use in domestic applications such as general lighting, decorative lamp, night lamp etc. apart from wide scale applications as indicator systems in industrial and automotive application such as impact resistant and unbreakable front and rear indicator lights in vehicles, signal lights in railways, road traffic and aviation lights and like.

Claims

AMENDED CLAIMSReceived by the International Bureau on 24 March 2006 (24.03.06]+ STATEMENT
1. A replaceable LED system with uniform externally visible glow comprising :-
atleast one LED and / or LED chip and/or any other semiconductor light
S emitting device, with or without its operative circuitry permanently and securedly held within a shock, vibration resistant and unbreakable polymeric moulding / housing with at least a part of the externally visible glowable portion comprising a substantially uniform glow / illumination region on lighting free on any visible unidirectional glow/illumination from 0 the LEDs and / or LED chip and/or any other semiconductor light emitting device inside.
2. A replaceable LED system with selective uniform externally visible glow comprising:-
atJeast one LED and / or LED chip and/or any other semiconductor light s emitting device ,with or without its operative circuitry permanently and securedly held within a shock , vibration resistant and unbreakable polymeric moulding / housing with at least a part of the externally visible glowable portion comprising a substantially uniform glow / illumination region on lighting free on any visible unidirectional glow / illumination from 0 the LEDs and / or LED chip and/or any other semiconductor light emitting device inside.
3. A seamless surfaced replaceable LED system with uniform multidirectional glow comprising :-
atleast one LED and/or LED chip and/or any other semiconductor light 5 emitting device, with or without its operative circuitry permanently and securedly held within a shock, vibration resistant and unbreakable seamless polymeric moulding / housing with at least a part of the externally visible glowable portion comprising a substantially uniform glow
/ illumination region on lighting free on any visible unidirectional glow / 0 illumination from the LEDs and / or LED chip and/or any other
semiconductor light emitting device inside.
4. A seamless surfaced replaceable LED system with selective uniform multidirectional glow comprising :-
atleast one LED and / or LED chip and/or any other semiconductor light emitting device with or without its operative circuitry permanently and
S securedly held within a shock, vibration resistant and unbreakable seamless polymeric moulding / housing with at least a part of a selective externally visible glowable portion comprising a substantially uniform glow
/ illumination region on lighting free on any visible unidirectional glow / illumination from the LEDs and / or LED chip and/or any other 0 semiconductor light emitting device inside.
5. A replaceable LED system with uniform multidirectional glow comprising :-
atleast one LED and / or LED chip and/or any other semiconductor light emitting device with or without its operative circuitry permanently and securedly held within a shock, vibration resistant and unbreakable 5 polymeric moulding / housing with at least a part of the externally visible glowable portion comprising a external appearance which facilitate substantially uniform glow / illumination on lighting free on any visible unidirectional giow/ifiumination from the LEDs and / or LED chip and/or any other semiconductor fight emitting device inside.
0 6. A replaceable LED system with uniform multidirectional external glow on lighting comprising :-
atleast one LED and / or LED chip and/or any other semiconductor light emitting device, with or without its operating circuitry moulded to provide a permanent and secured shock , vibration resistant and unbreakable 5 operative connection, said moulding adapted such that atleast a selective portion of the externally visible portion of the lamp comprises a uniform glow region on lighting free of any external unidirectional glow of the LED to provide a combination of said uniform glow regions and visible unidirectional LED glowing regions on the external visible portion .

A replaceable LED system with uniform glow on lighting comprising: any geometric or other shaped moulding comprising plurality of LEDs and/or LED chip and/or any other semiconductor light emitting device with or without its operating circuitry housed in a moulding to provide a permanent and secured operative shock, vibration resistant and s unbreakable connection, said moulding adapted such that externally visible portion of the iamp comprises a uniform glow region on lighting free of any visible external unidirectional glow of the LEDs .
8. A replaceable LED system with uniform glow on lighting comprising:
a bulb shaped moulding comprising plurality of LEDs and/or LED chip 0 and/or any other semiconductor light emitting device with or without its operating circuitry all housed in said common moulding to provide a permanent and secured operative shock, vibration resistant and unbreakable connection, said moulding adapted such that externally visible portion of the lamp comprises a uniform glow region on lighting 5 free of any visible external unidirectional glow of the LEDs .
9. A replaceable LED system with uniform glow on lighting comprising:
a rectangular or square shaped moulding comprising plurality of LEDs and / or LED chip and/or any other semiconductor light emitting device with or without its operating circuitry housed in moulding to provide a permanent 0 and secured shock, vibration resistant and unbreakable operative connection, said moulding adapted such that externally the lamp comprises a uniform glow region on lighting free of any visible external unidirectional glow of the LEDs .
10. A replaceable LED system with uniform glow on lighting comprising:
5 a cylindrical shaped moulding comprising plurality of LEDs and / or LED chips and/or any other semiconductor light emitting device with or without its operating circuitry housed in moulding to provide a permanent and secured shock, vibration resistant and unbreakable operative connection, said moulding adapted such that externally the lamp comprises a
0 uniform glow region on light free of any visible external unidirectional glow of the LEDs .
11. A replaceable LED system as claimed in anyone of daims 1 to 10 comprising selective polymeric moulding involving selective colour with polymeric materials for color and variety to the visible uniform glow of LED.
S 12. A replaceable LED system as claimed in daim 11 wherein said polymeric material is selected from thermosetting polymer and / or thermoplastic polymers.
13. A replaceable LED system as daimed in daim 12 wherein said polymeric material comprise thermosetting polymers preferably selected from 0 polystyrene and epoxy resins most preferably polystyrene.
14. A replaceable LED system as daimed in anyone of daims 1 to 10 wherein said atfeast in said uniform glow / illumination region the polymeric material comprise turbidity imparting agents preferably petroleum product and/or imparted by way of chemically frosting inside the selective use of S glass mould and/or comprise milled filler powder preferably phosphor powder or any other suitable milled powder.
15. A replaceable LED system as daimed in daim 12 wherein the thermosetting polymers comprise catalyst / accelerators.
16. A replaceable LED system as daimed in daim 15 wherein said catalysts is 0 selected from Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK), Methyl Ethyl Ketone Peroxide
(MEKP), Tertiary Butyl Peroxide (TBP), and Benzoyl Peroxide.
17. A replaceable LED system as daimed in daim 15 wherein said accelerators comprise cobalt salt preferably cobalt octate.
18. A replaceable LED system as daimed in daim 14 wherein said selective 5 polymeric material in atJeast said uniform glow region comprise agents preferably petroleum jelly.
19. A replaceable LED system as daimed in daim 14 wherein said polymeric material in atJeast said uniform glow region comprise milled filler powder preferably phosphor powder or any other suitable milled powder.
20. A replaceable LED system as claimed in daim 11 wherein said polymeric S mould comprises waterproof and/or fire retardant materials.
21. A replaceable LED system as daimed in anyone of daims 1 to 10 wherein said / uniform glow region is provided with decorative pattern or surface ornamentation.
22. A replaceable LED system as daimed in daim 11 wherein said polymeric 0 mould houses operative components including basic components selected from UEDs / LED chip, resistors, rectification circuit and capacitors.
23. A replaceable LED system as daimed in daim 11 wherein said polymeric moulding comprising said permanent and secured shock and vibration resistant operative connection comprise of solid selective polymeric 5 content
24. A method for manufacture of the replaceable of LED system with uniform glow comprising :-
(i) providing moulding / housing of desired shape and configuration for moulding of the LED and / or LED chip and/or any other 0 semiconductor light emitting device unit comprising said LEDs and/or any other semiconductor light emitting device and operating drcuitry;
(ii) providing atteast one LED and / or LED chip and/or any other semiconductor light emitting device with or without its operative 5 drcuitry and moulding using selective polymeric materials such as to provide a shock, vibration proof and unbreakable containment of said LED (amp and / or LED chip and / or any other semiconductor light emitting device with or without its operative drcuitry and that atleast a selective portion of the
0 externally visible glowable portion of the lamp have a uniform glow region on lighting free of any visible external unidirectional glow of LEDs, the polymeric base being adapted to match desired shape and configuration for fitting to a holder and operative connection thereto.
25. A method for manufacture of the replaceable LED system with uniform multidirectional external glow on lighting comprising: -
providing atleast one LED and / or LED chip and/or any other semiconductor light emitting device with or without its operating circuitry and housing the same in a moulding to provide a permanent and secured shock, vibration resistant and unbreakable operative connection , said moulding carried out such that only a selective portion(s) of the externally visible portion is/are adapted to comprise a uniform glow region on lighting free of any external unidirecϋonai glow of the LED to provide a combination of said uniform glow regions and visible unidirectional LED glowing regions on the external visible portion.
26. A method for manufacture of the replaceable LED system as claimed in claim 24 comprising selectively providing in the external visible glowable region some uniformly glowing region and some regions providing the unidirectional LED glow viewable.
27. A method for the manufacture of a replaceable LED system with uniform glow on lighting comprising:
providing any geometric shaped moulding comprising plurality of LEDs and / or LED chip and/or any other semiconductor light emitting device with or without its operating circuitry housed in said mould and carrying out moulding using said polymeric material to provide a permanent and secured shock ,vibratjon resistant and unbreakable operative connection, said moulding carried out such that the externally visible portion of the lamp comprise of a uniform glow region on lighting free of any visible external unidirectional glow of the LEDs and/or any other semiconductor light emitting device.
28. A method for the manufacture of a replaceable LED system with uniform glow on lighting comprising:
providing a bulb shaped mould and providing plurality of LEOs and/or LED chip and/or any other semiconductor light emitting device with or without its operating circuitry housed in said mould and carrying our moulding using selective polymeric material to provide a permanent and secured shock ,vibration resistant and unbreakable operative connection , said moulding carried out such that externally visible portion of the lamp comprise a uniform glow region on fighting free of any visible external unidirectional glow of the LEDs .
29: A method of manufacture of the replaceable LED system with uniform glow on lighting comprising:
providing selectively a rectangular, square and round shaped mould and providing plurality of LEDs and / or LED chip and/or any other semiconductor light emitting device with or without its operating circuitry housed in said mould and carrying out moulding using said selective moulding materials to provide a permanent and secured shock ,vibration resistant and unbreakable operative connection, said moulding carried out such that the externally visible portion of the lamp comprise a uniform glow region on lighting free of any visible external unidirectional glow of the LEDs and/or any other semiconductor light emitting device .
30. A method for the manufacture of a replaceable LED system with uniform glow on lighting comprising :
providing a cylindrical shaped mould and providing plurality of LEDs and / or LED chip and/or any other semiconductor light emitting device with or without its operating circuitry housed in said mould and carrying out moulding using said selective moulding material to provide a permanent and secured shock, vibration resistant and unbreakable operative connection, said moulding carried out such that externally the lamp comprise a uniform glow region on lighting free of any visible external unidirectional glow of the LEDs and/or any other semiconductor light emitting device.
31. A method of manufacture of the seamless replaceable LED system with uniform multidirectional external glow on lighting comprises: -
providing a glass mould ;
S providing atieast one LED and / or LED chip and/or any other semiconductor light emitting device with or without its operating circuitry and moulding in said glass mould to provide a permanent and secured shock, vibration resistant and unbreakable operative connection, said moulding carried out such that the externally visible portion of the tamp 0 comprise a uniform glow region on lighting free of any external unidirectional glow of the LED and/or any other semiconductor light emitting device.
32. A method of manufacture of the seamless replaceable LED system with uniform multidirectional external glow on lighting comprises: -
5 providing a glass mould ;
providing atieast one LED and / or LED chip and/or any other semiconductor light emitting device with or without its operating circuitry and moulding in said glass mould to provide a permanent and secured shock ,vibration resistant and unbreakable operative connection, said 0 moulding carried out such that atieast a selective portion of the externally visible portion of the lamp comprise a uniform glow region on lighting free of any external unidirectional glow of the LED to provide a combination of said uniform glow regions and visible unidirectional LED glowing regions on the external visible portion .
5 33. A method of manufacture of the seamless replaceable LED system with uniform multidirectional external glow on lighting comprising :-
providing a glass mould ;
providing atieast one LED and / or LED chip and/or any other semiconductor light emitting device with or without its operating circuitry and moulding in said glass mould to provide a permanent and secured shock, vibration resistant and unbreakable operative connection, said moulding carried out such that the externally visible portion of the lamp comprise a uniform glow on lighting free of any external S unidirectional glow of the LED and/or any other semiconductor light emitting device.
34. A method of manufacture of replaceable LED system with uniform multidirectional external glow on lighting as claimed in anyone of claims 24 to 33 wherein said base of the unit is to matched to any conventional 0 holder means.
35. A method of manufacture of replaceable LED system with uniform multidirectional external glow on lighting as claimed in anyone of claims 24 to 33 wherein the period of setting of the polymeric material is selected based upon polymeric material used and the moulding process followed.

A method of manufacture of replaceable LED system with uniform multidirectional external glow on lighting as claimed in anyone of claims 24 to 33 wherein said polymeric moulding material used comprise colours to provide coloured polymeric materials for color and variety to the visible uniform glow of LED / LED chips.
0 37. A method of manufacture of replaceable LED system with uniform multidirectional external glow on lighting as claimed in claim 35 wherein said polymeric material is selected from thermosetting polymer and / or thermoplastic polymers.
38. A method of manufacture of replaceable LED system with uniform 5 multidirectional external glow on lighting as claimed in daim 35 wherein said polymeric material used comprise thermosetting polymers preferably selected from polystyrene and epoxy resins more preferably polystyrene.
39.A method of manufacture of replaceable LED system with uniform multidirectional external glow on lighting as claimed in anyone of claims 24 0 to 33 wherein for obtaining said atieast uniform glow / illumination region anyone or more of the following is followed (i) the polymeric material used selectively comprising agents preferably petroleum product preferably petroleum jelly (ii) imparted by way of chemically defusing inside the selective use of glass mould and (iii) said polymeric material is selected to include milled filler powder preferably phosphor powder or any other suitable milled powder.
40. A method of manufacture of replaceable LED system with uniform multidirectional external glow on lighting as daimed Hi dalm 37 wherein the thermosetting polymers used comprise catalyst/accelerators.
41. A method of manufacture of replaceable LED system with uniform multidirectional external glow on lighting as claimed in claim 40 wherein said catalysts used is selected from Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK), Methyl Ethyl Ketone Peroxide (MEKP), Tertiary Butyl Peroxide (TBP), and Benzoyl Peroxide.
42. A method of manufacture of replaceable LED system with uniform multidirectional external glow on lighting as daimed in daim 40 wherein said accelerators used comprise cobalt salt.
43. A method of manufacture of replaceable LED system with uniform multidirectional external glow on lighting as daimed in daim 37 wherein said polymeric mould material used comprise water proof materials and/or fire retardant materials.
44. A method of manufacture of replaceable LED system with uniform multidirectional external glow on lighting as daimed in anyone of claims 24 to 33 wherein said uniform glow region is provided with decorative pattern or surface ornamentation.
45.A method of manufacture of replaceable LED system with uniform multidirectional external glow on lighting as daimed in daim 37 wherein said polymeric moulding for said permanent and secured shock and vibration resistant operative connection is obtained of solid selective polymeric content.
46. A replaceable LED system with uniform multidirectional external glow on lighting and a process for its manufacture substantially as herein described and illustrated with reference to the accompanying figures.
