[0008] このような構成によれば、立体成形回路基板によるベース部材上に導体パターン、 端子体及び接触体が形成されているので、用途に応じた導体パターンの変更が比 較的容易である。また、立体成形回路基板によるベース部材の表面積が比較的大き いので、複雑な配線を施すことも可能であり、コネクタに多数の電子部品を内蔵させ ることが可能になる。その結果、配線の設計の自由度を増加させることができる。さら に、電子部品は立体成形回路基板によるベース部材上に配設されるので、電子部品 をリフローはんだ付けによって接合することが可能になり、電子部品の実装作業性が 向上する。

発明を実施するための最良の形態
[0010] 本発明の第 1実施形態に係る電子部品を内蔵したコネクタについて、図面を参照し つつ詳細に説明する。図 1は第 1実施形態に係るコネクタの構成を示す断面図であ る。図 1に示されるように、第 1実施形態に係るコネクタはヘッダ 1及びソケット 6で構成 され、ヘッダ 1に電子部品 4が内蔵されている。また、図 2はヘッダ 1の構成を示す斜 視図である。
[0011] 図 1及び図 2からわかるように、ヘッダ 1は、例えば熱硬化性樹脂やセラミックスなど で形成された立体成形回路基板によるベース部材 2と、ベース部材 2上に形成された 導体パターン 3と、ベース部材 2上に実装された電子部品 4などを備えている。
[0012] ベース部材 2は、矩形状の平面部 5と、平面部 5の中央部に形成された嵌合部 29を 有している。嵌合部 29は、略直方体形状を有し、相手側であるソケット 6に形成され た凹部 61と嵌合される。嵌合部 29の中央部には、嵌合部 29の平面部 5からの高さ 寸法よりも長い深さ寸法を有する直方体形状の凹部 9が形成されている。凹部 9の底 面 10には、電子部品 4がはんだ付けにより実装され、導体パターン 3aと電気的に接 続されている。また、凹部 9には、凹部 9の底面 10から、ベース部材 2の底面部 11へ 貫通する複数のスルーホール 12が形成されている。底面部 11には、ベース部材 2の 長手方向に沿って 1対の溝部 13が形成されている。
[0013] ベース部材 2の底面部 11の幅方向における両端部には、ベース部材 2が母基板 1 4に固定される際に、母基板 14の配線パターン 15にはんだ付けされる端子体 16が、 導体パターン 3と一体的に形成されている。また、嵌合部 29の外側面に沿って、相手 側コネクタであるソケット 6の接触端子部 7と電気的に接続される接触体 8が、導体パ ターン 3と一体的に形成されている。 [0014] 端子体 16は、その中央部に母基板 14の配線パターン 15と平行な面 16cを有し、 その両端部に母基板 14の配線パターン 15と平行ではない外側の斜面(垂直を含む ) 16a及び内側の斜面 16bを有している。斜面 16a及び 16bには、はんだによるフィレ ットが形成され、端子体 16が母基板 14の配線パターン 15に電気的に接続される。ス ルーホール 12の内周面に沿って導体パターン 3bが形成されており、凹部 9の底面 1 0の導体パターン 3aと底面部 11の導体パターン 3cが電気的に接続され、さらに、接 触体 8と端子体 16とが電子部品 4を介して電気的に接続されている。
[0015] 次に、ベース部材 2の製造工程について、図 3及び図 4を参照しつつ説明する。図 3はベース部材 2の製造工程を示すフローチャートであり、図 4は完成直前のベース 部材 2の構成を示す断面図である。
[0016] まず、立体成形回路基板の基体が成形される(Sl)。次に、基体の全面を覆うように 、 Cu膜力スパッタリング法により形成され (S2)、レーザーを用いて Cu膜がパター二 ングされる(S3)。さらに、必要部分にのみ Cu電解メツキが施され (S4)、不必要な部 分の Cuがエッチングにより除去される(S5)。その後、基体に Ni電解メツキが施され( S6)、その上から Au電解メツキが施される(S7)。最後に、図 4に示されるように、平面 部 5上の切断部 17で、ベース部材 2とメツキ電流の供給側 18とが切断される(S8)。 以上により、導体パターン 3が形成された立体成形回路基板からなるベース部材 2が 完成される。
[0017] 立体形成回路基板によるベース部材 2は上記のような工程によって製造されるので 、接触体 8及び端子体 16が導体パターン 3と一体的にベース部材 2上に形成される。 そのため、用途に応じて接触体 8、端子体 16及び導体パターン 3などを容易に変更 すること力 Sできる。また、立体成形回路基板によるベース部材 2の表面積が比較的大 きいので、複雑な配線を施すことも可能であり、ベース部材 2上に多数の電子部品 4 を実装させることが可能になる。その結果、設計の自由度を増加させることができる。 さらに、電子部品 4は、ベース部材 2の凹部 9の底面 10、すなわち平面部に設置され るので、電子部品 4のはんだ付けにリフローはんだ付けを利用することができ、電子 部品 4の実装作業性が向上し、製品の歩留まりを向上させることができる。
[0018] 次に、第 1実施形態に係るコネクタの変形例の構成を図 5に示す。図 5に示されるよ うに、凹部 9に封止材 19を注入し、電子部品 4を封止材 19で被覆し、封止してもよい 。その他の構成については、上記の場合と同様であるため、その説明を省略する。こ のように、電子部品 4を封止材 19で被覆し、封止することにより、製造工程が増え、若 干のコスト増加にはなる力 上記の効果に加えて電子部品 4の保護を図ることができ る。以下の実施形態においても同様である。
[0019] 次に、本発明の第 2実施形態に係る電子部品を内蔵したコネクタについて、図面を 参照しつつ詳細に説明する。図 6は第 2実施形態に係るコネクタのヘッダの構成を示 す断面図である。
[0020] 図 6に示されるように、第 2実施形態では、ベース部材 2の平面部 5と溝部 13とを貫 通し、嵌合部 29の外側面に沿うように、金属製の接触端子 21を保持するための保持 孔 20が形成されている。保持孔 20の内周面には、導体パターン 3dが形成されてい る。接触端子 21は略 L字型断面を有しており、その縦辺部 21aが接触体 8として機能 し、横辺部 21bが端子体 16として機能する。
[0021] 接触端子 21は、横辺部 21bの先端が外側を向くように保持した状態で、ベース部 材 2の下側から、縦辺部 21aを上向きにして、保持孔 20に圧入されている。すなわち 、接触端子 21のベース部材 2の保持孔 20への圧入方向が、相手側コネクタであるソ ケット 6の接触端子部 7 (図 7参照)による接圧方向に対して垂直になるように設定され ている。なお、縦辺部 21aのうち、保持孔 20に圧入されている部分力 被保持部とし て機能する。
[0022] このような構成により、接触体 8として機能する接触端子 21の縦辺部 21aが嵌合部 29の外側面に沿うと共に、縦辺部 21bの下端が保持孔 20の内周面に形成された導 体パターン 3dと電気的に接続される。同様に、端子体 16として機能する接触端子 21 の横辺部 21bがベース部材 2の下面に接触することにより、接触端子 21がベース部 材 2に固定されると共に、横辺部 21bがベース部材 2の底面部 11の幅方向の端部近 傍に形成された導体パターン 3eと電気的に接続される。
[0023] 図 6に示す構成例では、接触端子 21と導体パターン 3との電気的接続及び接触端 子 21とベース部材 2との機械的固定を、単に接触端子 21の縦辺部 21aを保持孔 20 に圧入することによって行っている。すなわち、接触端子 21と導体パターン 3とは、は んだ付けによっては固定されていないので、ソケット 6の接触端子部 7から受ける接圧 よる導体パターン 3のベース部材 2からの剥離を防止することができる。また、相手側 コネクタであるソケット 6の接触端子部 7とベース部材 2とを電気的に接続する接触体 8として、略 L字型断面を有する接触端子 21を使用したので、接触体 8の耐久性が向 上する。
[0024] 次に、第 2実施形態に係るコネクタの変形例の構成を図 7に示す。図 7に示されるよ うに、接触端子 21と導体パターン 3とを電気的に接続し、機械的に固定するために、 溝部 13において、接触端子 21と導体パターン 3とをはんだ付けしてもよい(はんだ付 け部を 22で示す)。
[0025] この変形例によれば、接触端子 21と導体パターン 3とがはんだ付けによって固定さ れている。し力 ながら、接触端子 21のベース部材 2の保持孔 20への圧入方向が、 ソケット 6の接触端子部 7から受ける接圧方向に対して垂直になるように設定されてい るので、接圧による接触端子 21と導体パターン 3とのはんだ付け部 22への負荷を軽 減することができ、負荷による導体パターン 3のベース部材 2からの剥離を防止するこ とができる。
[0026] なお、接触端子 21と導体パターン 3との電気的接続のために、導電ペーストなどを 用いることも可能である。さらに、凹部 9に封止材 19を注入し、電子部品 4を封止材 1
9で被覆し、封止してもよい。
[0027] 次に、本発明の第 3実施形態に係る電子部品を内蔵したコネクタについて、図面を 参照しつつ詳細に説明する。図 8は第 3実施形態に係るコネクタのヘッダの構成を示 す断面図である。
[0028] 図 8に示されるように、第 3実施形態では、ベース部材 2の平面部 5に、嵌合部 29の 外側面に沿って、金属製の接触端子 27の長い縦辺部 27aを保持するための圧入孔 23が形成されている。また、嵌合部 29の上面 24には、相手側コネクタであるソケット 6との接圧方向に対して直行する方向に、接触端子 27の短い縦辺部 27bを保持する ための保持孔 25が形成されている。保持孔 25の開口部 26は、外部に向かうにつれ て開口部 26の幅が徐々に大きくなるように形成されている。さらに、保持孔 25の内周 面には、導体パターン 3fが形成されている。 [0029] 接触端子 27は、長い縦辺部 27aと、短い縦辺部 27bと、横辺部 27cを有する略コの 字型に形成された金属板であり、長い縦辺部 27aが接触体 8として機能する。接触端 子 27は、ベース部材 2の上方から、長い縦辺部 27aが圧入孔 23に圧入され、短い縦 辺部 27bが保持孔 25に圧入されることにより、ベース部材 2上に保持される。長い縦 辺部 27aの自由端近傍及び短い縦辺部 27bの自由端近傍は、それぞれ圧入孔 23 及び保持孔 25に圧入される被保持部として機能する。
[0030] 接触端子 27がベース部材 2に保持されると、短い縦辺部 27bが保持孔 25の内周 面に形成された導体パターン 3fと接続されると共に、横辺部 27cがベース部材 2の嵌 合部 29の上面 24に形成された導体パターン 3gと接触される。さらに、接触端子 27と 導体パターン 3とを電気的に接続すると共に、機械的に固定するために、開口部 26 の近傍において、接触端子 27と導体パターン 3とがはんだ付けされている(はんだ付 け部を符号 28で示す)。その結果、ベース部材 2の嵌合部 29の外側面に沿った接触 端子 27の長い縦辺部 27aが接触体 8として機能する。
[0031] なお、接触端子 27と導体パターン 3との電気的接続及び機械的固定のためには、 必ずしもはんだ付けする必要はなぐ単に接触端子 27を保持孔 25に圧入しただけ でもよレ、。あるいは、はんだ付けの代わりに導電ペーストなどを用いることも可能であ る。さらに、凹部 9に封止材 19を注入し、電子部品 4を封止材 19で被覆し、封止して あよい。
[0032] 第 3実施形態によれば、相手側コネクタであるソケット 6の接触端子部 7と電気的に 接続される接触体 8として、接触端子 27を使用したので、接触体 8の耐久性が向上 する。さらに、接触端子 27のベース部材 2への圧入方向と、ソケット 6から受ける接圧 方向とが互いに垂直になるように設定したので、接圧による接触端子 27と導体パタ ーン 3とのはんだ付け部 28への負荷を軽減することができ、負荷による導体パターン 3のベース部材 2からの剥離を防止することができる。
[0033] なお、本発明は、上記各実施形態に記載されたように、母基板に使用されるコネク タに限定されるものではなレ、。例えば、携帯電話や PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) に設けられたインターフェースケーブルと接続されるコネクタにも使用することができ る。 [0034] さらに、電子部品を内蔵したコネクタは、上記各実施形態に記載されたように、コネ クタを構成するヘッダに限定されない。例えば、ヘッダの相手側コネクタであるソケッ トの内部に電子部品が内蔵されていてもよい。
[0035] 本願は日本国特許出願 2003—301913に基づいており、その内容は、上記特許 出願の明細書及び図面を参照することによって結果的に本願発明に合体されるべき ものである。
[0036] また、本願発明は、添付した図面を参照した実施の形態により十分に記載されてい るけれども、さまざまな変更や変形が可能であることは、この分野の通常の知識を有 するものにとって明らかであろう。それゆえ、そのような変更及び変形は、本願発明の 範囲を逸脱するものではなぐ本願発明の範囲に含まれると解釈されるべきである。

Claims

請求の範囲
[1] 立体成形回路基板により形成されたベース部材と、
前記ベース部材に形成され、母基板の配線パターンと電気的に接続される端子体 と、
前記ベース部材に形成され、相手側コネクタと嵌合される嵌合部と、
前記嵌合部に配設され、前記相手側コネクタの接触端子部と電気的に接続される 接触体と、
前記ベース部材上に実装された電子部品と、
前記ベース部材上に形成され、前記端子体又は前記接触体と前記電子部品とを 電気的に接続する導体パターンとを備えた電子部品を内蔵したコネクタ。
[2] 前記接触体は、前記ベース部材上に形成された導体パターンと一体的に形成され ていることを特徴とする請求項 1に記載のコネクタ。
[3] 前記接触体は、前記ベース部材の前記嵌合部に配設された金属製の接触端子で 構成されていることを特徴とする請求項 1に記載のコネクタ。
[4] 前記ベース部材には、前記相手側コネクタの接触端子による接圧方向に対して直 行する方向に、前記接触端子を保持するための保持孔が形成され、
前記接触端子は、前記嵌合部の外側面に沿って配設され、前記接触体として機能 する部分と、前記接触体として機能する部分から延長され、前記保持孔に圧入保持 される被保持部とを有し、
前記保持孔の内周面には、前記保持孔に圧入保持された前記接触端子の被保持 部と接続されるための前記導体パターンが形成されていることを特徴とする請求項 3 に記載のコネクタ。
[5] 前記端子体は、前記ベース部材上に形成された導体パターンと一体的に形成され ていることを特徴とする請求項 1に記載のコネクタ。
[6] 前記導体パターンは、前記母基板に接合される前記ベース部材の接合面及び前 記ベース部材の前記接合面に対して平行ではない面上にわたって形成されているこ とを特徴とする請求項 5に記載のコネクタ。
[7] 前記ベース部材は、前記電子部品が実装された凹部を有していることを特徴とする 請求項 1に記載のコネクタ。
前記凹部に封止材が充填されていることを特徴とする請求項 7に記載のコネクタ。
