Abstract

A device for high-capacity, multiplexed processing of a variety of solid-phase-format, biological or biochemical assays, which use fluid media, is described. The device may be part of a larger machine or system, which can be automation friendly. Generally, the device comprises a number of plates, which forms a cassette or chamber module. Each cassette or chamber module has an interior and exterior surface. At least part of an interior wall surface is displaceable. Within each cassette are a number of fluid inlet and outlet passageways and a reaction chamber for receiving at least one microarray substrate. When the cassette is ready to be used, the reaction chamber should be fluid-tight. In the larger machine, a number of cassettes are associated with a rotary drum, from which the chamber modules extend outwardly. A method relating to the use of the present device or system is also provided.
