Abstract

The invention relates to a system which is used to simulate the evolution of complex living organisms from a simulation of pre-determined biological mechanisms of said organisms. The inventive system comprises the following elements: means (30) for modelling the structure of a complex living organism using a multi-level graph; means (31) for modelling at least one physiological function using a set of triplets each comprising two nodes and a directed link therebetween, said directed link being associated with a mathematical function defining a functional interaction between the two nodes considered; means (40) for entering input variables of at least one part of the mathematical functions and for inserting said variables as the values of the parameters of at least one node of the multi-level graph; and propagation means (40) for updating the parameters of the nodes of the multi-level graph with the application of mathematical functions that link the nodes to one another.
