Abstract

 送受波器に2回反射して、対向する送受波器間を1.5往復して受信側の送受波器に入る1.5往復ノイズによる受信波のゼロクロスポイントの検知誤差を少なくする。流量計測精度を上げる。受信側の送受波器18の中心軸X‐Xの図示左方の延長線上に離れて送信側の送受波器が配置されている。この図示されていない送信側の送受波器からの超音波パルスは、送受波器18の音響整合層7Aの前の円錐形傾斜面からなる反射面7bに、矢印A,Bのように入射すると矢印A′,B′のように反射し、中心軸X‐Xからそれた方向に向きを変える。したがって,反射波A′,B′は対向する送信側送受波器に入らず、1.5往復ノイズとならない。矢印C,Dのように入射する超音波はより大きい角度で向きが変わり、C′,D′の向きとなり、1.5往復ノイズにはならない。

Description

明細書 超音波流量計と送受波器 技術分野
本発明は超音波流量計と送受波器に関する。 背景技術
図 1 に示すように、 流体中に距離 Lを離して流管 3の上流と下流に 対向配置した 1組の超音波送受波器の一方の送受波器 1 から他方の送 受波器 2へ超音波を送信したときの順方向伝播時間と、 送受波器 2か ら送受波器 1へ超音波を送信したときの逆方向伝播時間とから流体の 流速 Vを求め、 流量を演算している。
上述の測定原理において、 超音波が受信側の送受波器に到達する時 期、 つまり到達時点を特定する受信検知の方法として、 特定波のゼロ クロスポイントを検知するようにしたものがある。 図 2は発信のタイ ミングを示す送信駆動信号と受信波を示している。 実際の受信波は非 常に小さく、 先ず増幅される。 同図の受信波は増幅後の波形を示して いる。
aが到達時点で、 徐々に振幅が大きくなる。 その後最大振幅となり 徐々に小さくなる。 ところが到達時点 aはノィズに隠れて検知できな い。 そこで、 次のような方法が行われている。
ノイズよリ十分大きな基準電圧レベル (単に基準レベルともいう) と してのしきい値 V THを決め、 このレベルに最初に達した波、 例えば 同図の第 3波が b点でしきい値に達した後ゼロレベルを通るゼロク口 スポイント cを検知して受信検知とする方法である。
しきい値 V THは常に何番目かのある特定の波 (例えば第 3波) のゼ 口クロスポイントを検知するように定めてあり、実際の伝播時間 t は、 a点から c点までの時間てを予め求めて記憶しておき、 測定した時間 t + てに相当する値から時間てを減算することにより求めている。 こ れを第 1の従来技術という。
送信から受信までの順方向伝播時間や逆方向伝播時間を求めるのに. 単純に測定した到達時間 t + てから時間 τを減ずるのではなく、 伝播 時間計測の精度を向上するために、 受信すると同時に次の送信を同じ 方向に行うことを複数回 ( η — 1回) 繰り返すことにより、 一方向、 例えば順方向の送受信を η回連続して繰り返して、 最初 (第 1回目) の順方向送信から最後 (第 η回目) の受信までの時間、 つまり到達時 間の η倍をまとめて測定し、 次に他方向、 例えば逆方向への送受信を 同様にして η回連続して繰り返して、 最初の逆方向送信から最後の受 信までの時間、 つまり到達時間の η倍をまとめて測定し、 これらの各 方向の複数回の送受信で得た測定値から η τを減じ、 各方向の伝播時 間を計算して流速更に流量を求める超音波流量計も公知である。 これ を第 2の従来技術という。
この種の超音波流量計で用いられている送受波器の構造を図 3に示 す。 前記送受波器 1 と 2は同じ構造の超音波振動子であるので、 図 3 にはその一方の送受波器 1 を示す。 なお前記従来技術で、 流れの順方 向に超音波を送信するときは、 上流側の送受波器 1 をパルス駆動して 送信側に使い、 下流側の送受波器 2を受信側として使って、 受信した 信号を図示されていない増幅器で増幅した後に、 図示されていない受 信検知回路で前記ゼロクロスポィント cを検知する。
図 3で、 厚み Β の円板状圧電セラミックス 4の前面と後面に形成 された電極は、 それぞれ端子 5と 6に電気的に接続されている。 圧電 部材としての圧電セラミックス 4は、 その前面が厚み寸法 Β 2、 直径 Φの円板状の音響整合層 7の後面に同心的に接着されている。 送受波 器 1 を送信側として使用するときは、 パルス駆動された圧電セラミッ クス 4からの超音波が音響整合層 7を介して、 整合層 7の前面の超音 波放射面 7 aから前方 (図示左方) の被計測流体中へ放射され、 距離 Lだけ離れて対向配置された他方の送受波器 2で受信される。 8は外 径が Φの円筒状金属ケース、 9は両端子 5 , 6を保持するベース、 1 0は封止用のシール材で、ケース 8とベース 9の間に充填されている。 なお、 ケース 8は音響整合層 7と同じ材料で一体構造にする場合もあ る。
圧電セラミックス 4から音響整合層 7に入射して、 更に被計測流体 中に入射する超音波のエネルギー透過率は、 音響整合層 7の厚み Β 2 の影響を受け、 この厚み Β 2を音響整合層 7内の超音波の波長; Iの 1 Ζ 4にすると極大になることが周知である。 従って、 図 3に示す従来 の送受波器では厚み寸法 Β 2を波長の 1 Ζ 4、 即ち λ Ζ 4に定めてい た (Β 2 = λ Ζ 4 ) 。 これを第 3の従来技術という。 前記第 2の従来技術で、 一方向、 例えば流れの順方向に連続して η 回の送信 (送受信ということもできる) を繰り返すとき、 送信側の送 受波器 1から送信された 1回目の超音波は、 送信時点から到達時間 t +て後に受信側の送受波器 2に到達受信されると同時に、 送受波器の 音響整合層の前面で返射されて、 流路内を送受波器 1 に向かって返射 波が返る。 この反射波は更に送受波器 1の音響整合層の表面 (前面) で返射されて受信側の送受波器 2に入り受信される。この受信時点は、 第 1回目の前記送信時点から到達時間 t + ての 3倍の時間経過後であ リ、 かつ、 この反射波は、 送受波器 1から送信されて、 流路中の距離 Lを 1 . 5往復した後に送受波器 2に入射する。 この反射波は、 最初 は送受波器 1から第 1 回目の送信信号として送信され、 これが送受波 器 2で 1回反射され、更に送受波器 1で反射されて送受波器 2に入る。 送受波器 1では、 連続して t + zr間隔で複数回 ( n回) の送信が繰り 返されるため、 第 3回目の送信による超音波が送受波器 2に入るとき には、 前記 1 . 5往復した ( 1回目の送信による) 反射波が重畳され て同時に送受波器 2で受信される。
送受波器 1から送信された超音波が直接送受波器 2に受信される受 信波は、 いわば本来の信号である。 それに対し、 この本来の信号に重 畳する前記 1 . 5往復の反射波は、 いわばノイズであるので、 以後こ れを 1 . 5往復ノイズと呼ぶ。 上述の説明より明らかなように、 n回 の連続した送受信で、 3回目の送信信号を受信するとき以後は、 毎回 1 . 5往復ノイズが本来の信号に重畳して受信される。 そのため、 重 畳した 1 . 5往復ノイズの影響で、 受信波のゼロクロスポイントの検 知に誤差が生じる。
その状況を図 4で説明する。 図 4は受信波のゼロクロスボイント付 近を拡大した波形図で、 縦軸よりも横軸をより大きく拡大してあり、 本来の受信波の第 3波のゼロクロスポィン卜が符号 cで示す時点であ る。 破線で示す 1 . 5往復ノイズの振幅は本来の受信波の振幅よりも 小さいが、 この 1 . 5往復ノイズが実線で示す本来の受信波に重畳し た合成波のゼロクロスポイントは符号 c ' で示す時点となり、 本来の 受信波のゼロクロスポィントである cの時点に対し、 Δ tだけずれた 時点となる。 この A tが 1 . 5往復ノイズの悪影響による到達時間の 誤差で、 この誤差が、 流量計としての流量測定の精度を悪くするとい う問題点があった。
そこで本発明は、' かかる問題点を解消できる超音波流量計と、 送受 波器を提供することを第 1の目的とする。
また、 前記第 3の従来技術では、 厚み寸法 B 2が狙い'寸法の λ Ζ 4 に対して誤差があると、 超音波の出力特性に悪影響があつたので、 音 響整合層 7の厚み寸法 Β 2を波長; Iの 1 Ζ 4に合わせるために、 音響 整合層,は、 成形後に機械加工して正しい寸法ス 4になるように後 加工を要する場合があった。 そのため、 超音波送受波器の加工費がか さみ、 結果的に超音波流量計のコストを上げる要因となるという問題 点があった。
そこで、 本発明は、 音響整合層のかかる後加工を不用とし、 コス ト を低減できる超音波流量計と送受波器を提供することを第 2の目的と する。 発明の開示
前記第 1 の目的を達成するために、 請求項 1の発明は、 少なくとも 1対の送信側および Zまたは受信側として働く超音波送受波器を備え 前記少なく とも 1対の超音波送受波器は対向して設けられ、 少なくと も一方の送受波器の前面に、 両送受波器を結ぶ直線に直交する平面に 対して傾斜した反射面を具備し、 前記少なくとも 1対の超音波送受波 器は、 流体の流れの上流から下流への方向を順方向及び下流から上流 への方向を逆方向とし、 前記順方向および逆方向毎に、 一方の送受波 器を送信側として超音波を送信し、 他方の受信側送受波器が超音波を 受信すると再び送信側送受波器から超音波を送信し、 これを一定複数 回繰り返す超音波の送受信を行い、 順方向および逆方向の超音波の到 達時間よリ流速および流量を求めることを特徴とする超音波流量計で ある。
前記第 1 と第 2の目的を達成するために、 請求項 2の発明は、 請求 項 1の超音波流量計において、 送受波器が、 圧電部材の前面に音響整 合層の後面を当接した超音波送受波器であって、 音響整合層の前面に 前記傾斜した反射面が形成され、 かつ音響整合層の後面から前記反射 面の中間部までの厚みを、 音響整合層内の超音波の波長のほぼ 1 Z 4 に定めたことを特徴とするものである。
請求項 3の発明は、 請求項 2の超音波流量計において、 音響整合層 の前面に形成された前記傾斜した反射面を複数具備したことを特徴と するものである。
請求項 4の発明は、 請求項 1 , 2又は 3の超音波流量計において、 一対をなす両送受波器の前面に傾斜した反射面を具備したことを特徴 とするものである。
請求項 5の発明は、 請求項 1 , 2, 3又は 4の超音波流量計におい て、 傾斜した反射面が円錐状面であることを特徴とするものである。 円錐状面は、 円錐面又は円錐よう等の曲面で形成することができる。 円錐状面は逆様の円錐状面、 即ちすリばち形の曲面であっても良い。 請求項 6の発明は、 請求項 1 , 2, 3, 4又は 5の超音波流量計に おいて、 反射面の傾斜角度を 2〜 1 0度の範囲に定めたことを特徴と するものである。 傾斜角度は反射面上のいろいろな位置における切 平面の傾斜角である。
請求項 7の発明は、 圧電部材の前面に音響整合層の後面を当接した 超音波送受波器において、 音響整合層の前面に、 圧電部材の前面に 対して傾斜した反射面を形成したことを特徴とする送受波器である。 請求項 8の発明は、 請求項 7の送受波器において、 音響整合層の後 面から前記反射面の中間部までの厚みを、 音響整合層内の超音波の波 長の略 1 Z 4に定めたことを特徴とするものである。
請求項 9の発明は、 請求項 8の送受波器において、 圧電部材の前面 に対して傾斜した前記反射面を複数形成したことを特徴とするもので め 。
請求項 1 0の発明は、 請求項 7 , 8又は 9の送受波器において、 音 響整合層の前面で、 前記反射面 (7 b, 7 2 b , 7 4 b ) の外径 (Φ , ) よリ大径の部分 (反射面の外径より外側の部分) に、 前記反射面 の傾斜角度より大きい傾斜角度の第 2の反射面 (7 f , 7 f ' ) を形 成したことを特徴とするものである。
請求項 1 1の発明は、 請求項 7 , 8, 9又は 1 0の送受波器におい て、 傾斜した反射面が円錐状面であることを特徴とするものである。 円錐状面は円錐面又は円錐よう等の曲面で形成することができる。 円 錐状面は逆様の円錐状面、 即ちすりばち形の曲面であっても良い。 請求項 1 2の発明は、 請求項 7, 8 , 9又は 1 0の送受波器におい て、 傾斜した反射面が球面状部であることを特徴とするものである。 球面状部は球面部又は球面よう等の曲面部で形成することができる。 請求項 1 3の発明は、 請求項 7, 8 , 9又は 1 0の送受波器におい て、 傾斜した反射面が角錐状面であることを特徴とするものである。 角錐状面は角錐面又は角錐よう等の曲面で形成することができる。 請求項 1 4の発明は、 請求項 7〜 1 3のいずれかの送受波器におい て、 反射面の傾斜角度を 2〜 1 0度の範囲に定めたことを特徴とする ものである。 傾斜角度は反射面上のいろいろな位置における切平面 の角度である。

発明を実施するための最良の形態
次に本発明の好ましい実施の形態をいくつかの実施例に従って説明 する。
〔実施例 1〕
図 5 ( a ) ( 13 ) と図6 ( 3 ) ( b ) は本発明の超音波流量計から なるガスメータの実施例である。 ガスメータ 1 1の流入部 1 2へ流入 した被計測流体のガスは、 計測室 1 3を介して流管 1 4の流路 1 5へ 導かれる。 計測室 1 3はガスメータ 1 1へのガスの流入時の流れの影 彎を打ち消すためのバッファとしての役割を有する。 また計測室 1 3 は、 仕切り壁 1 6によって流入側と流出側とに区分されている。
流管 1 4は、 ほぼ長方形の断面形状を有する流路 1 5を形成し、 こ の流路 1 5内を流れるガスの流速を一対 (2つの) 超音波送受波器 1 7と 1 8とで計測する。ガスは流入部 1 2から矢印のように流入側(す なわち図示左側)の計測室 1 3に流入し、流路 1 5内を図 5 ( a ) ( b ) で図示左方から右方に向かって流れる。 送受波器 1 7と 1 8は、 上流 側の送受波器 1 7から超音波を送信し、 下流の送受波器 1 8でこれを 受信すると直ちに送受波器 1 7から再度送信する送受信を連続して複 数回 ( n回) 繰り返して、 超音波の順方向到達時間 t + ての n倍の時 間をまとめて測定し、 この測定値に基づいて超音波の順方向伝播時間 t を演算する。
次に、 順方向の場合と同様に、 送受波器 1 8からガスの流れと逆方 向に超音波を送信して上流の送受波器 1 7で受信する送受信を連続し て複数回 ( n回) 繰り返して超音波の逆方向到達時間をまとめて測定 し、 この測定値に基づいて超音波の逆方向伝播時間を演算する。 そし δ
て、 この逆方向伝播時間と前記順方向伝播時間に基づいて流体(ガス) の流速 ·流量を演算する。 順方向や逆方向の到達時間の測定や、 伝播 時間の演算、 流速■流量の演算は図示されていないマイク口コンビュ 一夕を用いた電子回路を用いて、 周知の方法で行う。
なお、 図 5 ( a ) ( b ) と図 6 ( a ) で、 符号 1 9はガスの流速を 計測するための計測部である。 流路 1 5を流れたガスは矢印のように 流出側の計測室 1 3を介して流出部 20からガスメータの出口へと流 出する。 流路 1 5の断面は長辺 Wを短辺 Hの 5 ~ 20倍に定めた長方 形で、 送受波器 1 7と 1 8の中心軸を結ぶ直線 X - Xに沿って超音波 が流体中を伝播する (図 5 ( b ) ) 。
図 7は送受波器の構造を示す縦断面図で、 図は一方の送受波器 1 8 を示すが、 他方の送受波器 1 7も同じ構造である。 なお、 図 7で、 前 記図 3に示す従来の送受波器と同じ機能を有する要素には同一の符号 を付けて示し、 その説明は省略する。 音響整合層 7 Aは最大厚み B4 が従来技術の図 3の音響整合層 7の厚み B2の寸法より大きく、 かつ 前面の形状が全く異なる。
即ち、送受波器の中心軸 X - X上に頂点を有する円錐状の傾斜面(反 射面) 7 bが形成され、 その頂部にわずかの面積だけ直径 øの平面部 7 cが形成されている。 円錐状の傾斜面 (反射面) 7 bは、 中心軸 X — Xの周りに図示断面形状を回転させた回転体形状であり、 円錐形傾 斜面の傾斜角 0は 5° に定めている。 換言すれば、 円錐形のテーパ角 は 1 7 0° である。 円錐形傾斜面 (反射面) つ bの前端 7 b ' は音響 整合層フ Aの後面 7 eからの距離が (前記最大厚み) B4であり、 円 錐形傾斜面 (反射面) 7 bの後端 7 b " は、 音響整合層 7 Aの後面か らの距離が符号 B3で示す最小厚みとなっており、 傾斜面 (反射面) における最小厚み B3と最大厚み B4との中間に前記波長の 1 Z4で あるぇ 4に相当する寸法 B2がある。 換言すれば、 後面 7 eから円 錐形傾斜面 (反射面) 7 bの中間部までの距離 (厚みとも言える) を 波長の 1 Z4の λΖ4である前記寸法 Bクに定めている。 数式で表現 すれば、 (B 3 + B 4 ) Ζ 2 = Β 2 = λ Ζ 4と書く ことができる。
こうすることで、 圧電セラミックス 4から音響整合層 7 Αを介して 被計測流体中に透過する超音波のエネルギー透過率を大きく保ってい る。 そして、 音響整合層 7 Aの成形寸法が多少変っても、 傾斜面 (反 射面) 7 bの傾斜部分に; Iノ 4の厚み寸法 B 2がくるので、 図 3の従 来技術のように機械加工による後加工で; L Z 4の狙い寸法に追い込む という面倒な作業が不要になる。 円錐形傾斜面 (反射面) 7 bの外径 t^の外周には、 小さい幅△ rの環状平面部 7 dが形成され、 この環 状平面部 7 dは前記頂部の平面部 7 cと同一平面上にある。
即ち、 平面部 7 cと 7 dは、 音響整合層 7 Aの平面状の後面 7 eか ら前方へ距離 B 4の位置にあり、 両平面 7 cと 7 dは、 後面 7 eと平 行である。 環状平面部 7 dの外径 Φ 2よリ大径の部分、 換言すれば円 錐形傾斜面 (反射面) 7 bの外径 Φ,より外径方向へ離れた部分では、 音響整合層 7 Αの前面 (前部) に第 2の円錐形傾斜面 7 f が形成され ている。 この第 2の円錐形傾斜面 (反射面) 7 f の傾斜角は前記傾斜 面 (反射面) 7 bの傾斜角 0より比較的大きい 5 0 ° に定めてある。 換言すれば、 第 2の円錐形傾斜面 (反射面) 7 f のテーパ角は 8 0 ° である。
音響整合層 7 Aの前面の直径 よリ大きい部分は、 圧電セラミッ クス 4の外径より比較的大径の位置にあるため、 本来超音波の放射面 としては機能しない。 そして、 図 3の従来技術では、 1 . 5往復ノィ ズを生起する反射面として好ましくない作用をするが、 大きい傾斜角 の第 2の傾斜面 (反射面) 7 f を形成することにより、 音響整合層 7 Aの前面の直径 Φ よリ大きい部分での反射によって発生する 1 . 5 往復ノイズを効果的に減らすことができる。
なお、 図 7で、 円筒状金属ケース 8 Aの主たる外径 Φは、 前記図 2 の従来技術における送受波器の円筒状金属ケース 8の外径 Φと同じで あるが、 実施例の金属ケース 8 Aの基部には、 取付用のつば部 8 aが 形成されている。 このつば部 8 aの外径は前記外径 Φよリ大きい値 Φ 3に定めてある。 また、 ケース 8 Aは音響整合層 7 Aと同じ材料で整 合層 7 Aと一体構造にしても良い。
次に、 図 5 ( a ) ( b ) において、 順方向伝播時間を測定するため に、 上流側の送受波器 1 7に図 8に示す駆動パルス電圧を印加して、 送受波器 1 7から中心軸 (軸線) X— Xに沿って超音波を送信したと きの、 受信側の送受波器の作用について図 9で説明する。 上流側の送 受波器 1 7から送信された超音波は被計測流体のガス中を中心軸 (軸 線) X— Xに沿って進行し、 矢印 A , Bのように超音波整合層 7 Aの 円錐形傾斜面 (反射面) 7 bへ入射する。
傾斜面 (反射面) 7 bは、 軸線 X— Xに直角な平面 Y— Yに対して 角度 0だけ傾斜しているため、 矢印 A , Bで示す超音波は、 入射角と 同じ反射角で反射して、 矢印 A , Bと角度 2 0をなす方向、 即ち矢印 A ' , Β ' の方向へそれぞれ反射して流れと逆の上流方向へと帰る。 しかし、 反射波の向きは入射波 A, Bに対し、 2 0も方向が違うため、 送受波器 1 8と離れて配設された送信側の送受波器 1 7の音響整合層 の前面に入ることは殆どない。 したがって、 この反射波が 1 . 5往復 ノイズとなって、 受信側の送受波器 1 8へ再度入射することは殆どな くなる。
図 1 0は、 送信側の送受波器 1 7を時刻 t でパルス駆動したとき の受信側の送受波器 1 8で受信し増幅した後の受信波形を示す。
から到達時時間 t + てだけ経過した時刻 t 2に、 本来の受信波 (即ち 直接波) 2 1が、 また時刻 t から到達時間 t + ての 3倍の 3 ( t + て) 経過した時刻 t 3に 1 . 5往復ノイズ 2 2が受信されている。 な お、 この図 1 0では、 送信を 1回だけ時刻 t ,に行って、 そのときの 本来の受信波 2 1 とそのときの 1 . 5往復ノイズだけを明瞭に示すよ うにしたが、 実際に流量計として作動させるときは、 順方向に複数回 ( n回) の送受信を繰り返すので、 本来の受信波 2 1 と同じような受 信波が時間 t 2と t 3の中間位置とか、 時刻 t 3の位置などに発生し、 時刻 t 3以後の受信波には 1 . 5往復ノイズが重畳する。 図 1 1 は、 図 1 0の 1 . 5往復ノィズ 2 2を拡大した波形図で、 時 間軸 (横軸) と振幅 (縦軸) とがいずれも 1 0倍に拡大してある。 こ れらの図 1 0, 1 1で明らかなように、 1 . 5往復ノイズ 2 2は比較 的小さく抑制されている。 本来の受信波 2 1の最大振幅と 1 . 5往復 ノイズ 2 2の最大振幅との比率は約 5 0で、 いわばこの値、 約 5 0が S Nである。
因みに、 図 5、 図 6に示すガスメータの送受波器 1 7 , 1 8を取り 外して、 図 3に示す従来の構造の送受波器を送受波器 1 7 , 1 8の代 わりに取り付けたときの図 1 0 , 1 1に対応する受信波形は図 1 2, 1 3のようで、 本来の受信波の最大振幅と 1 . 5往復ノイズの最大振 幅の比で示す S / Nは約 2 0となった。 なお、 図 1 2, 1 3では 1 . 5往復ノイズを符号 2 2 ' で示す。 これらのデータから比較すると、 図 2の従来構造の送受波器を用いた場合の SZNの値約 2 0が、 図 7 の構造の本発明の実施例の送受波器を用いた場合には S/Nが約 5 0 となり、 SZNが 2. 5倍に改善された。
ところで、 図 7で説明したように、 音響整合層 7 Aの前面には、 直 径0> 2から Φの間に、 第 2の円錐形傾斜面 (反射面) 7 f を形成し、 その傾斜角を 5 0 ° という大きな値に定めたので、 この傾斜面 (反射 面) 1 f に入射する超音波パルス C, Dは、 図 9に示すように、 矢印 C , D' に示す方向に反射し、 1 . 5往復ノイズとなる虞れはない。 上述のように、 図 7の構造の送受波器を用いることで、 音響整合層 7 Aの表面 (前面) で反射して送信側へ戻り、 更に送信側の送受波器 で反射して受信側へ入射する 1 . 5往復ノイズは, 小さい面積の中央 平面部 7 cと, 環状平面部 7 dでの反射波だけとなるので、 前述のよ うに、 いわゆる SZNが大幅に改善され、 1 . 5往復ノイズの悪影響 による計測誤差を軽減できる。
なお、 傾斜角 0が小さすぎると、 1 . 5往復ノイズを軽減する効果 が減少するため、 0は 2 ° 以上にすることが望ましい。 また、 音響整 合層 7 Aは、 ガスメータのような気体流量計では、 中空のガラス玉か らなるガラスバルーンを混和した公知のェポキシ樹脂成形品を用いて いるが、 傾斜角 0をあまり大きくすると、 超音波送受波器の主体特性 である感度と指向性に悪影響を与えるので、 1 0 ° 以下に定めるのが 好ましい。
図 1 4に示すように、 組立治具 2 3の上に音響整合層 7 Aを、 その 前面 (放射面) を下にして置き、 整合層 7 Aの後面 7 eに圧電セラミ ックス 4を載置し、 その上から治具 2 4を押し付けて、 圧電セラミツ クス 4を整合層 7 Aに熱圧着して接着することで圧電セラミックス 4 を整合層 7 Aに組み付けるが、 整合層の機械的強度が小さいので、 整 合層 7 Aが破壊する虞れがある。 整合層 7 Aの前面 (図示下面) の中 央平面部 1 cと環状平面部 7 dは同一平面内にあるので、 従来の図 3 の送受波器を組み立てるときに用いた同じ形状の組立治具 2 3, 2 4 を用いて、 安全に送受波器の組み立てができる。 即ち、 組み立て時の 安定性が確保できる。 両平面部 7 c, 7 dは組み立て治具 2 3を当て る当接面となる。
上記実施例 1では、 傾斜面 (反射面) 7 bを、 図 7の断面形状を軸 線 X— Xの周リに回転させた回転体形状で形成し、 軸線 X— Xの周リ に軸対称な形に形成したが、 完全な円錐面に限ることはなく、 円錐よ う面とか、 軸線 X— Xの周りの軸対称ではない円錐ようの面等を含む 円錐状面を用いることができる。
なお、 上記実施例 1では、 反射面 7 bとして、 図 7と図 9に符号 7 bで示す円錐形の曲面を用いているが、この円錐形の曲面の代わりに、 該曲面を軸線 X— Xを含む紙面に直角な平面内で 1 8 0度回転させた 逆様の円錐形の曲面、 すなわちすりばち形の曲面を用いても良い。 請 求項で円錐状面と記載しているのは、 このような逆様の円錐状面も含 む。 もっとも、 逆様の円錐状面を使うときは、 当接面としての中央平 面部 7 cは不要なので、 これは設けない。
[実施例 2 ] 図 1 5, 1 6は、 本発明の送受波器の他の実施例で、 前記実施例 1 で説明した図 7, 9の送受波器とは反射面の形状だけが異なるので、 同じ機能要素については、 同じ符号を付けて、 その説明を省略する。 この実施例 2の送受波器では、 図 1 5, 1 6に示すように、 音響整 合層 7 Aの前面には、 送受波器 1 8の中心軸 X— X上に頂点 7 gを有 する半径 Rの球面の一部 (以後これを球面部という) からなる傾斜面 (反射面) 7 bが形成されている。 傾斜面 (反射面) としての球面部 の傾斜角は (実施例 1の円錐面の場合と異なり) 中心軸 X— Xからの 距離 rにより異なった値となる。 即ち、 傾斜角は、 その位置における 球面部の接平面と、 軸線 (中心軸) X— Xに直角な平面 Y— Yとの角 度であり、 前記距離 rが大きくなる程大きな傾斜角となる。 また、 球 面部の頂点 7 gは、音響整合層 7 Aの後面 7 eから前方へ距離 B4 (最 大厚み) の位置にあり、 環状平面部 7 dと同一平面内にある。
そして、 整合層の傾斜面 (反射面) 7 bにおける最小厚み B3と前 記最大厚み B4の平均値 (B3+ B4) Z 2を波長の 1 4である寸法 B2に定めることで、 超音波のエネルギー透過率を極大にするように している。 数式で表現すると、 (B3 + B4) 2 = B2= ;i 4とし ている。 平均値 B2の図 1 5上における傾斜面 (反射面) 7 b上での 位置は、 最小厚み B3と最大厚み B4の平均点を意味するとも言える。 上流側の送受波器 1 7から送信された超音波が、 被計測流体のガス 中を中心軸 (軸線) X— Xに沿って進行し、 超音波整合層 7 Aの球面 状傾斜面 (反射面) 7 bへ図 1 6に示す矢印 A , Bのように、 中心軸 X— Xから距離 rの位置へ入射すると、 入射角と同じ反射角で反射し て、 矢印 A, Bとそれぞれ角度 2 )8をなす方向、 即ち矢印 A' , B' の方向へそれぞれ反射して流れと逆の上流方向へと帰る。 しかし、 反 射波の向きは入射波 A, Bに対し、 2 ^も方向が違うため、 この反射 波が 1 . 5往復ノイズとなって、 受信側め送受波器 1 8へ再度入射す ることは殆どなくなる。
もっとも、 角度) Sは傾斜角であって中心軸 X— Xからの距離 rに応 じて異なる値となり、 r = 0のとき、 即ち中心軸 X— X上では、 傾斜 角 βは ψ、 距離 rが一番大きい r = Φ Z 2の位置で傾斜角 βが最大 値となるので、 中心軸 X— X上を伝播して受信側の送受波器 1 8の反 射面に入射した超音波は 1 . 5往復ノイズとなり得るが、 そのエネル ギ一は小さく、 それによる 1 . 5往復ノイズの振幅は問題視する程大 きくはない。 そして、 距離 rが大きい位置に入射する超音波の変向角 度 2 j8は大きいため、 1 . 5往復ノイズとはならない。
なお、 この第 2実施例では、 頂点 7 gは厳密な意味では平面ではな い。 その意味では、 図 7 , 9で説明した実施例 1のように組み立て時 の当接面となる平面部 7 cを備えていないが、 頂点 7 gは曲率半径 R の球面であるため、 第 2実施例の音響整合層 7 Aに圧電セラミックス 4を熱圧着する組み立て作業時には、 図 1 4に示す実施例 1の音響整 合層 7 Aの代わりに、 第 2実施例の図 1 5, 1 6の音響整合層 7 Aを 組立治具 2 3の上に置き、 その頂点 7 gと環状平面部 7 dとを組立治 具 2 3に当接して、 安全に送受波器の組み立てができる。
上記実施例 2では、 傾斜面 (反射面) 7 bを球面部で形成したが、 球面部に限ることはなく、 球面よう等の球面状部であってもよい。
[実施例 3 ]
図 1 7, 1 8は、 本発明の実施例 3で、 前記実施例 1で説明した図 7 , 9の送受波器とは反射面の形状だけが異なるので、 同じ機能要素 については、 同じ符号を付けて、 その説明を省略する。 この実施例 3の送受波器では、図 1 7に示すように、音響整合層 7 Bの前面には、 中心軸 X— X上に頂点 (頂部とも言える) 7 hを有する円錐形の傾斜 面からなる反射面 7 1 bが形成され、 その外周に、 円錐形の反射面 7 1 bと同心的に逆様の円錐形 7 2 b、 すなわちすりばち形の反射面 7 2 bが形成され、 該反射面 7 2 bの外周が、 幅 Δ rの環状平面部 7 d と交わる稜線で直径 Φ の頂部 7 j を形成している。
符号 7 i は円錐形の反射面 7 1 bの外径と逆様の円錐形の反射面 7 2 bの内径との交わる稜線で形成された直径 Φ Z 2の円形の谷部で ある。 音響整合層 7 Bの後面 7 eから谷部 7 i までの距離は最小厚み の Β3' である。 音響整合層 7 Βの後面 7 eから頂部 7 j までの距離 は、 項面 7 eから頂部フ hまでの距離と同じで最大厚み B である。 最小厚み Β3' と最大厚み Β の平均値 (Β3' + Β ) 2は Β2で、 この平均値 Β2を音響整合層内の超音波の波長の 1 / 4である ス 4に定めている。 したがって、 円錐形の反射面 7 1 bと逆様の円 錐形反射面 7 2 bの中間部に λΖ4の寸法 B2がくることになる。 こ うすることで傾斜した 2つの反射面 7 1 bと 7 2 bとの中間部に厚み が λ Z4となるところができるため、 λΖ4と合う厚みの部分が実施 例 1の場合よリ増加し、実施例 1の場合のほぼ 2倍となる。その結果、 この送受波器 1 8を送信側として使用するときの超音波のエネルギー 透過率が実施例 1 よリも大きくなリ、 そのぶん送受波器としての効率 と感度が向上する。
また、 他方の送受波器 1 7から軸線 Χ— Χに沿って矢印 Α, Βのよ うに反射面 7 1 bに入射する超音波は、 図 1 8のように反射面への入 射角 0の 2倍の角度 2 0だけ方向を変えて反射され、 矢印 A' , B' の方向へと変向する。 0は反射面 7 1 bの傾斜角でこの実施例では 5° に定めている。 矢印 A' , B' 方向に反射した反射波は、 軸線 X 一 Xからそれて、 離れた位置にある他方の送受波器の音響整合層の前 面には入らない。 そのため、 1 . 5往復ノイズとならない。
同様に、 軸線 X— Xに沿って矢印 E, Fのように反射面 7 2 bに入 射する超音波は、入射角の 2倍の角度 2 0だけ方向を変え、矢印 E' , F ' の方向へと変向する。 0は反射面 7 2 bの傾斜角一 5° の絶対値 の 5° である。 この反射波 E' , F' も、 離れた位置にある他方の送 受波器 1 7に近づくまでに、 軸線 X— Xからそれるため、 送受波器 1 7の超音波整合層の前面に入射することはほとんどなく、 1 . 5往復 ノィズになることはほとんどない。
矢印 C, Dのように第 2の反射面 7 f に入射する超音波は前記実施 例 1の場合と同様に、 矢印 C' , D' の方向に反射されて、 1 . 5往 復ノイズとはならない。 なお、 本実施例 3で、 当接面としての環状 平面部 7 dをなく し、 図 1 7に符号 7 f ' に示すように第 2の反射面 を形成すると、 環状平面部 7 dによる反射波に起因する 1 . 5往復ノ ィズが無くなるため、 そのぶん計測の SZNが向上する。
[実施例 4]
図 1 9は本発明の実施例 4で、 傾斜した反射面を 4つ備えている。 即ち、 傾斜角が 5° の円錐形の反射面 7 1 bと、 傾斜角が一 5° の逆 様の円錐形 (すりばち形) 反射面 7 2 bと、 円錐形の一部で形成され た傾斜角 5° の反射面 7 3 bと、 傾斜角が— 5° の逆様の円錐形 (す リばち形) 反射面 7 4 bの 4つの反射面で、 これら 4つの反射面は軸 芯 X— Xを中心とする同心に配設されている。
反射面 7 1 bと反射面 7 2 bの間 (境界) になる谷部 7 ί は直径が Φ,Ζ4の円である。 反射面 7 2 bと反射面 7 3 bの間 (境界) にな る頂部 7 j は直径が Φ Z 2の円である。 反射面 7 3 bと反射面 7 4 bの間 (境界) になる谷部 7 i は直径が Φ , Χ ( 3/4) の円である。 そして、 反射面 7 4 bの外周は、 直径 の頂部 7 j を形成している。 この実施例 4では、 音響整合層 7 Cの後面 7 eから、 各谷部 7 i, 7 j までの距離は最小厚みで、 音響整合層 7 Cの後面 7 eから各頂部 7 h , 7 i, 7 j までの距離は最大厚みとなっている。 そしてこれら 最小厚みと最大厚みの平均の厚み、 即ち平均値 B2が音響整合層 7 C 内の超音波の波長 1ノ 4である; Iノ 4に定めてある。
そのため、 この; I Z 4の厚みになる部分が、 4つの反射面 7 1 b , 7 2 b , 7 3 b , 7 4 bの各中間部にでき、 これら各中間部はいずれ も該当する反射面の中間部に円形部として存在する。 そのため、 反射 面のほとんどの領域を; I Z4またはえ Z4付近にすることができるた め、 送受波器としての効率 (感度) を落とさずに、 1 . 5往復ノイズ を抑制できる。 1 . 5往復ノイズを抑制する反射波の変向作用につい ては、 この実施例 4の場合については図示してないが、 実施例 3の図 1 8の場合と同様で、 図 1 8と比較して反射面 7 3 b , 7 4 bが増え ている点が違うものの、 超音波の反射面における変向の様子は、 実施 例 1 や 3の場合から容易に理解できるであろう。
[他の実施例]
ところで、 送受波器 1 7 , 1 8の前面、 即ち整合層 7 Aに形成した 傾斜面 (反射面) は、 前述のように、 上記実施例 1 のような円錐形の 傾斜面 (反射面) に限ることはなく、 角錐状の傾斜面 (反射面) でも 良く、 切妻屋根のように 2つの傾斜平面をへの字形に合わせたもので も良い。
また、 上記実施例では、 対向する一対の送受波器の両方の前面に同 じ形状の傾斜面 (反射面) を具備したが、 両送受波器の距離が大きい と、 少しの傾斜角でも反射した超音波が両送受波器を結ぶ直線 X— X から大幅に離れて 1 . 5往復ノイズを低減するため、 対向配置した一 対の送受波器の両方の反射面を傾斜させる代わリに、 一方の送受波器 のみに傾斜した反射面を設けるようにしても良い (請求項 1 ) 。
また、 対向する両送受波器に反射面を設ける場合、 両送受波器を同 じ形状の反射面に限る必要はない。 例えば、 対向する送受波器の一方 を実施例 1 (図 7 ) の送受波器とし、 他方を実施例 4 (図 1 9 ) の送 受波器として組み合わせても良い。
更にまた、 上記実施例では、 計測部 1 9には計測用の流路 1 5を 1 つだけ設け、 その上流側と下流側に送受波器 1 7 と 1 8を対にして対 向配置したが、 大流量の超音波流量計では、 計測用の流路を並列に複 数設け、 各流路に一対の送受波器を配設するとか、 1 つの計測用流路 に複数対の送受波器を配設することも考えられる。 請求項 1 で少なく とも一対の送受波器を設けると記載した理由はこのことにある。
本発明の超音波流量計は上述のように構成されているので、 1 . 5 往復ノイズを軽減でき、受信波のゼロク口ズポィン トの検知精度に 1 . 5往復ノイズが悪影響を与える度合いが低減する。 その結果、 流量計 としての計測精度が高くなる。
また、 本発明の送受波器は、 上述のように構成されているので、 音 響整合層の前面で反射する反射波を送受波器の中心軸からそらすこと ができるため、 これを流量計に使用した場合に、 1 . 5往復ノイズを 低減できる。 また、 請求項 1 3の発明では、 従来と同じ組立治具を用 いて組立作業時の安定性を確保できる。
更に又、 送受波器の反射面は超音波放射面としても作用するが、 請 求項 2, 8等の発明では、 整合層における後面から反射面の中間部ま での厚みを整合層内の超音波の波長のほぼ 1 4に定めたので、 整合 層の成形寸法に多少のばらつきが出たとしても、 反射面の途中 (中間 部) の厚みが波長の 1 / 4となる。 従って、 送受波器の後加工をしな くても、 超音波の出力を大きく維持でき、 流量計の測定精度を保持で き、 流量計の信頼性を上げることができる。
そして、 請求項 3や 9等の発明では、 反射面を複数設けたので、 反 射面の多くの領域を; I Z 4又はその付近にすることができるため、 送 受波器の効率や感度を落とさずに、 1 . 5往復ノイズを抑制できる利 点がある。 産業上の利用可能性
本発明は、 流体の流量、 流速を超音波を利用して計測する超音波流量 計で、 本発明の構成により流量計の計測精度、 信頼性等の向上に寄与 する。

Claims

請求の範囲
1 . 少なく とも 1対の送信側および Zまたは受信側として働く超音波 送受波器を備え、
前記少なくとも 1対の超音波送受波器は対向して設けられ、 少なく とも一方の送受波器の前面に、 両送受波器を結ぶ直線に直交 する平面に対して傾斜した反射面を具備し、
前記少なくとも 1対の超音波送受波器は、 流体の流れの上流から下 流への方向を順方向及び下流から上流への方向を逆方向とし、 前記順 方向および逆方向毎に、 一方の送受波器を送信側として超音波を送信 し、 他方の受信側送受波器が超音波を受信すると再び送信側送受波器 から超音波を送信し、 これを一定複数回繰り返す超音波の送受信を行 し、、 順方向および逆方向の超音波の到達時間よリ流速および流量を求 めることを特徴とする超音波流量計。
2 . 前記超音波送受波器は、 圧電部材の前面に音響整合層の後面を当 接した超音波送受波器であって、 音響整合層の前面に前記平面に対し て傾斜した反射面が形成され、 かつ音響整合層の後面から前記反射面 の中間部までの厚みを、 音響整合層内の超音波の波長のほぼ 1 Z 4に 定めたことを特徴とする請求項 1記載の超音波流量計。
3 . 音響整合層の前面に、 前記傾斜した反射面が複数形成されたこと を特徴とする請求項 2記載の超音波流量計。
4 . —対をなす両送受波器の前面に、 前記傾斜した反射面を具備した ことを特徴とする請求項 1記載の超音波流量計。
5 . 傾斜した反射面が円錐状面であることを特徴とする請求項 1記載 の超音波流量計。
6 . 反射面の傾斜角度を 2 ~ 1 0度の範囲に定めたことを特徴とする 請求項 1記載の超音波流量計。
7 . 圧電部材の前面に音響整合層の後面を当接した超音波送受波器に おいて、
圧電部材の前面に対して傾斜した反射面を、 音響整合層の前面に形 成したことを特徴とする送受波器。
8 . 音響整合層の後面から前記反射面の中間部までの厚みを、 音響整 合層内の超音波の波長の略 1 Z 4に定めたことを特徴とする請求項 7 記載の送受波器。
9 . 圧電部材の前面に対して傾斜した前記反射面を、 音響整合層の前 面に複数形成したことを特徴とする請求項 7記載の送受波器。
1 0 . 音響整合層の前面で、 前記反射面の外径よリ大径の部分に、 前 記反射面の傾斜角度より大きい傾斜角度の第 2の反射面を形成したこ とを特徴とする請求項 7記載の送受波器。
1 1 . 傾斜した反射面が円錐状面であることを特徴とする請求項 7記 載の送受波器。
1 2 . 傾斜した反射面が球面状部であることを特徴とする請求項 7記 載の送受波器。
1 3 . 傾斜した反射面が角錐状面であることを特徴とする請求項 7記 載の送受波器。
1 4. 反射面の傾斜角度を 2〜 1 0度の範囲に定めたことを特徴とす る請求項 7記載の送受波器。
1 5. 音響整合層の前面の中央部と外周縁とに、 送受波器の組立時に 組立治具を当接する当接面を具備したことを特徴とする請求項 7記載 の送受波器。
