Abstract

The invention relates to a method for determining the route of a packet-oriented communication of a network element (PC1), which is connected to a network node device (ROU) via a packet-oriented network (LAN), with a network element located outside of the network. To this end, a network address allocated to the network element (PC1) in the packet-oriented network (LAN) is determined by using entries in data packets of the packet-oriented communication, and a communications profile that is used during the packet-oriented communication is also determined. In the event that a predefined network address and/or a predefined communications protocol are/is determined, the packet-oriented communication is terminated and/or a communications service provider (ISP) with a corresponding access protocol is selected for carrying out communication with the network element located outside of the network.
