Abstract

La résistance é l'usure et aux rayures des métaux présentant une dureté réduite, est améliorée en incrustant dans une poudre métallique, des particules de céramique non oxyde, comme les nitrures et les carbures, tout en conservant un éclat métallique. L'incrustation des particules de céramique non oxyde se fait par co-broyage avec la poudre métallique dans un broyeur à billes (1). L'ensemble est alors compacté et fritté. Le frittage peut se faire soit en phase solide soit en phase liquide pour la poudre métallique. De manière à améliorer la compatibilité entre les particules de céramique et le métal lors du frittage, la céramique non-oxyde est choisie de manière à avoir une densité proche de celle du métal tendre à renforcer. Le matériau composite métal-céramique obtenu présente une dureté renforcée et une densité proche de celle du métal initial.
