Abstract

The invention concerns a method for providing a protective anti-expansion layer on a perforated mask for cathode ray tube characterized in that it comprises the following steps: preparing a paste containing in weight percent a) 20 % to 40 % of a water-soluble dispersant, b) 45 % to 70 % of metal oxides such as bismuth and/or silicon and/or tungsten oxide, c) sintered glass powder; depositing the paste on the mask surface to produce a uniform layer on said surface; high-temperature melting. The resulting layer enables local expansion of the mask surface to be avoided during the tube operation and the resulting image colour fading. The method provides the advantage of being economical and of using environment-friendly products.
