  • the inner cap (5) is coloured differently to that of the remaining components which can assist in establishing visually the activated or non-activated status of the device (1 ).
  • a suitable colour for the inner cap (5) is "safety yellow".
  • the container (2) is held in one hand as the reservoir (12) is firmly clasped in the other hand and screwed or pushed down until the ridge (15) engages the recess (10) (FIG. 3). During this action, the blade (20) pierces the membrane (21). Any dust cap is removed from the reservoir (12).
  • the reservoir (12) is then placed over the affected eye socket and, by squeezing the sides of the container (2), fluid can pass up through the tube (7) through the plate (17) and into the reservoir (12) to wash the eye.
  • the head of the user is only required to be tilted forward, rather than backwards, as the fluid is sprayed upwards through the perforated plate (17).
  • any unused or thus- used wash fluid drains through the drain holes (19) external to the container (2) therefore eliminating the possibility of flushing contaminated fluid back into the eye.
  • the dimensions of the reservoir (12) can be adapted such that, when the device (1 ) is in the "non-activated" or ready to use position, the mid to lower portions of the inner cap (5) are clearly visible but, when the device has been activated for use, the lower portion (14) of the reservoir (12) shields those mid to lower portions from view.
  • the device of the present invention can thus provide a fully assembled unit, charged with a suitable formulation, and ready for immediate use with the ability to spray the areas surrounding the eye socket to remove irritants therefrom before commencing the eye wash.
  • the formulation remains contaminant free, not requiring constant monitoring as to its suitability for use, with a long shelf life, which can be activated and used by a single person. If it is deemed desirable, the entire unit can be discarded after use or can be sterilized, refilled and resealed for later use.
  • a particularly important advantage of the present invention is that it can be operated without having to invert the device for gravity feeding of the wash formulation as in the prior art devices.

Abstract

L'invention concerne un dispositif de distribution pour préparations liquides, destiné à être utilisé comme bassin oculaire. Le dispositif (1) comporte un récipient (2) comprenant un goulot (3) et une partie filetée (4), un capuchon interne façonné (5) comprenant une partie filetée complémentaire (6) destinée à entrer en prise avec l'autre partie filetée (4), ainsi qu'un tube (7) ouvert à chacune de ses extrémités (8, 9), qui est intégré dans le capuchon interne (5) et qui s'étend entre le capuchon interne (5) et la base du récipient (2). Le dispositif (1) comporte également une première rainure (10) disposée autour de la surface externe du capuchon interne (5), au niveau de son extrémité inférieure, et une seconde rainure (11) disposée autour de la surface externe du capuchon interne (5), à mi-longueur environ du capuchon (5). Le dispositif (1) comporte également une oeillère (12) comprenant une partie supérieure (13) conçue pour s'adapter à l'orbite de l'oeil d'un être humain et une partie inférieure tubulaire (14) qui s'étend entre la base de l'oeillère (12) et une nervure interne (15). La nervure interne (15), la première rainure (10) et la seconde rainure (11) ont des formes complémentaires. Le dispositif (1) comporte également une plaque (17) traversée par une pluralité de perforations (18), située au niveau de la jonction (16) entre la partie supérieure (13) et la partie inférieure (14) de l'oeillère (12). L'oeillère (12) comporte également des orifices d'évacuation (19). Le dispositif (1) comporte également une lame coupante (20) disposée sous ladite jonction (16). Une fois le récipient (2) rempli avec la préparation, une membrane (21) est disposée dans l'ouverture du goulot (4). Le déplacement de l'oeillère (12) entre une première position et une seconde position permet de percer la membrane (21) et, lorsque les parois latérales du récipient (2) sont comprimées, de laisser s'écouler le liquide par le tube (7), dans l'oeillère (12).
