Abstract

Disclosed is a device for producing a glass wool sheet material, comprising a length-reducing cutting device (4) and a coiling device (6) following a hardening furnace (1) in the direction of movement of the sheet (7). As an option, the coiled roll can also be packaged in the coiling device (6). In order to obtain high production speeds with a predefined thickness of the sheet (7) even when thin materials are produced, the sheet (7) is separated into two or several layers (7a, 7b) by a cutting device (3) running through said sheet (7). Said layers (7a, 7b) are coiled jointly, optionally after being compressed in a compressing device (5).

Description

Verfahren und Vorrichtung zur Herstellung eines Glaswollebahnmaterials. Method and device for producing a glass wool sheet material.
The invention relates to a method for producing a glass wool sheet material, according to which the glass wool is formed into a sheet of predetermined thickness, cut to length and wound into a roll and optionally packaged, and to an apparatus for carrying out the method.
Methods and devices for the production and packaging of glass wool sheets are well known. For example, according to GB 1 414 596, the web produced is cut lengthwise in two layers, which are wound up separately; however, according to US 2,684,107, the web is first compressed and then zigzag folded.
Each system for the production of glass wool web materials is designed for a certain production capacity, which corresponds to an optimal web thickness with a constant web width. If a web is to be produced with less than the optimal thickness, the line speed must be increased in order to utilize the production capacity. However, this has an upper limit, since the glass fiber distribution in the web produced becomes uneven if the speed is too high. If thinner than optimally thick webs are therefore to be produced, the production capacity can generally not be used in an existing system, which is a technical and economic disadvantage.
The aim of the invention is a method and a device according to which any thicknesses of glass wool web materials can be manufactured under always optimal production conditions.
This aim is achieved according to the invention with a method of the type mentioned at the outset in that the web is cut in the longitudinal direction before being cut to length to form at least two layers with preferably the same thickness and is wound up in the cut state.
Because the glass wool web is initially produced in an optimal thickness and only then cut into two or more layers, the production capacity can be increased be used in each case. Since in the course of the winding (and possibly simultaneous) packaging of the pieces cut from the endless web, the web thickness is compressed, the layers which are separated per se are pressed together to such an extent that they adhere to one another like a Velcro connection. This has the advantage that the glass fiber web pieces can be used either in full thickness or in partial thicknesses, ie in the form of individual layers. In the latter case, the individual layers (two or more, each with the same thickness or with different thicknesses) can be separated from one another in a simple manner by subtraction.
In order to ensure reliable adhesion of the individual layers, it is advisable to compress the web before winding it up.
A device consisting of a web production system is suitable for carrying out the method according to the invention, which is followed by at least one hardening furnace, a cutting device and a winding and possibly packaging device in the direction of travel of the web. In accordance with the invention, a cutting device passing through the web is provided between the hardening furnace and the cutting device. The design of the cutting device can be conventional - the easiest is a band saw.
The compression proposed in terms of the method can be carried out in accordance with the invention by a device in which a compression device is arranged in front of the winding and possibly packaging device.
Compression devices as such are known in different designs. In the simplest case, a narrowing gap is sufficient, which is formed between two endless conveyor belts, the glass wool web or the piece cut to length resting on one of the belts.
The invention is explained below with reference to an embodiment of the device illustrated in principle in the drawing. In the drawing, the part of the device which is decisive for understanding the invention is shown in an oblique view. A hardening furnace 1 is connected to the web production plant (not shown). This is a trimming device 2, one the web penetrating cutting device 3, a cutting device 4, a compression device 5 and a winding and packaging device 6 in series. A glass wool web 7 of a predetermined thickness emerging continuously from the hardening furnace 1 is trimmed laterally by the trimming device 2 and then separated by the cutting device 3, for example in two layers 7a, 7b with the same thickness. The number of layers cut and their thickness can, however, be selected as required. The web 7 cut into layers 7a, 7b is then cut to a predetermined length in the cutting device 4. The cut-to-length pieces of the layers 7a, 7b located one on top of the other are then pushed into the compression device 5, in which the total thickness of the layers 7a, 7b is reduced and an intensive interlacing or quasi matting of the intersecting interfaces of the double-cut layers 7a, 7b takes place , The separated web piece is then wound up in the winding and packaging device 6 and packaged at the same time. The compression device 5 can also be omitted, since the layers 7a, 7b are compressed by the winding process alone and thus an adequate adhesive bond between their two interfaces.
The separate, but releasably adhering layers 7a, 7b can be used at the place of their use (i.e. generally for insulation purposes) either together or separately after peeling them off. The method according to the invention and the device suitable therefor thus ensure not only a more productive production of glass wool webs, but also a better variability in their use.
