  • the present invention relates generally to a display apparatus using a rear- view mirror of a car, and more particularly to a display apparatus using a rear-view mirror of a car, wherein in a normal mode a rear surface of the rear- view mirror positioned at the front top of the car is made to be darkened to allow the rear-view mirror to function as a reflective mirror, while during the output of image signals through a liquid crystal display board at the rear surface of the mirror the image signals are projected forward to be watched in the car, thereby allowing all the people in the car to watch images on the mirror by selecting an image display mode, a TV watching mode or a car navigation display mode using a remote controller.
  • a driver In general, a driver must reach his destination and, thereafter, park his car in such a way as to go forward, turn to the right or left, or go rearward by operating the car while sitting on the driver's seat of the car.

  • a general hands-free signal processing unit 19 is provided in the rear-view mirror 1, so image signals are displayed on the LCD board 2, the driver's voice is inputted through a microphone 20, and the other side's voice is outputted through a speaker 17. Accordingly, the telephone conversation is possible while a user watches an image transmitted from a video telephone on the LCD board 2.
  • the LCD board 2 and the board 3 are formed in the rear-view mirror 1 and the reflective mirror 4 is combined with the LCD board 2 and the board. Accordingly, in a normal driving mode, the rear-view mirror 1 functions as the reflective mirror 4 with its rear surface darkened, and the rear view can be watched through a whole surface of the reflective mirror 4.
  • the controller 12 recognizing the selection outputs a control signal to the camera drive unit 6 so as to allow the CCD camera 5 to photograph a rear area.

  • the CCD camera 5 is positioned in the stern mirror 22 and the rear-view mirror also has the LCD board 2, the board 3 and the reflective mirror 4, so that in a normal mode the rear-view mirror functions as a reflective mirror 4 with its rear surface darkened, and the rear view can be watched through a whole surface of the reflective mirror 4.

  • a rear surface of a rear-view mirror positioned in the front-top of a car is made dark so that the rear-view mirror normally functions as a reflective mirror, while during the output of image signals through an LCD board at the rear surface of the mirror, the image signals are projected forward to be displayed.
  • the signals of images photographed by the CCD camera which is controlled by a camera drive unit are amplified by an amplification unit, and are transmitted through a liquid crystal drive unit to an LCD board in the rear-view mirror to be displayed.

  • a controller for controlling operations is adapted to select an image display mode, a television watching mode or a car navigation mode according to a user's selection by a mode selection switch.
  • the controller is provided with a receiving unit for a remote controller so that the user is able to select functions of a mode change, a channel up/down and a volume up/down, etc. by the remote controller.

Abstract

La présente invention se rapporte à un appareil d'affichage utilisant un rétroviseur. Cet appareil est pourvu d'un panneau d'affichage à cristaux liquides (ACL) (2) et d'un panneau foncé (3), ainsi que d'un miroir réfléchissant (4) qui recouvre lesdits panneaux (2) et (3). En mode classique, l'appareil d'affichage permet au conducteur de voir la zone se trouvant derrière le véhicule grâce au miroir réfléchissant (4). En mode affichage d'images arrières faisant appel à une caméra CCD (5), le panneau ACL (2) affiche une image arrière photographiée par ladite caméra (5). En mode affichage de navigation faisant appel à un système de navigation (18), le panneau ACL (2) affiche une image cartographique. En mode télévision, une unité de traitement de signaux de télévision (15) délivre un signal vidéo au panneau ACL (2) et délivre un signal audio à un haut-parleur (17). Le fonctionnement de cet appareil est commandé par une unité de commande (12).
