Abstract

A method for selecting electrical stimulation parameters for controlling epileptiform activity in a patient includes implanting brain electrodes (6, 11, 12) in the patient, connecting the brain electrodes to an EEG analysis system (19) including a display workstation (16) and a stimulator (18), and collecting and analyzing EEG signals to determine whether electrical stimulation applied via the stimulator is effective to initiate or terminate epileptiform activity. If not, parameters are adjusted and stimulation, collection, and analysis steps are repeated.
