Abstract

A method and system for reducing the undesirable noise in a communication signal is provided. Designed specifically to address the problem of telephone communications where the desired speech signal is contaminated by background noise, this invention employs digital signal processing of the communication signal (101) to selectively emphasize (105, 106), buffer (103), amplify (109), and smooth (107, 108) the components of the signal, thereby enhancing the signal quality (signal to noise ratio) of the presented communication signal.
