Abstract

A light guide assembly includes a layer of material having the property of transmitting a portion of electromagnetic radiation entering the layer of material. The layer of material includes an edge portion, with an optical mask covering at least part of the edge portion. The mask has a reflecting side for reflecting the entering electromagnetic radiation so as to reduce bright areas when the layer of material is viewed from the side opposite the reflecting side and to recycle light resulting from the bright areas.
