Une unité de dégagement (22), placée au niveau de l'extrémité amont du premier convoyeur à bande (26), comprend un rouleau de renvoi (36) pour la bande transporteuse (34) du convoyeur (26), un élément de guidage (32) se présentant sous la forme d'un rouleau (38) et un élément d'entraînement (46). L'extrémité amont (66) d'un convoyeur de transfert (52) est articulée sur l'élément d'entraînement (46). Si l'extrémité libre (64) se trouve dans une position de retrait et l'élément de guidage (32) dans une position de repos (30), l'ensemble d'écailles (S) est transportée de façon rectiligne le long du premier parcours de transport (10). Si un produit (14) de l'ensemble d'écailles (S) doit être transféré à un deuxième parcours de transport (18), l'élément d'entraînement (46) fait passer l'élément de guidage (32) dans la position de dégagement (30') et l'extrémité (64) dans la position de travail (66'). La courbure ainsi produite dans le brin actif (34') a pour effet de soulever l'arête avant (24) et la zone marginale (24') adjacente du produit (14) à acheminer au deuxième parcours de transport (18), et permet l'introduction du produit dans la fente de transport (54) du deuxième parcours de transport (18).
