Abstract

A security storage container (10) for storing items of recorded media or other small items in a secure manner while allowing the items to be seen includes a box (12), a lid (14), and a slide latch (16). The slide latch (16) is disposed outside the lid (14) and is directly grasped by the user to move it between the locked and unlocked positions. The lid (14), box (12), and slide latch (16) are configured to prevent a pry bar from being used to open the security container (10). The lid (14) and slide latch (16) include a locking mechanism (100) that may be unlocked by a specific key (18). The lid (14) is locked with respect to the box (12) when a plurality of tangs (70) disposed on the slide latch (16) are trapped under a plurality of ledges (32, 64) disposed on the box (12)..
