Abstract

This invention relates to a new member of a recently recognized TWIK potassium transport channels, herein designated as TASK2. TASK2 is a unique potassium transport channel which is regulated by external pH and predominantly expressed in kidney and epithelial tissues. The invention relates to various constructs of TASK2 for the production of TASK2 and their uses for diagnostic tests and screening methods to identify compounds that modulate potassium transport.
