Description

SYSTEM TO MAKE ILLUSTRATIONS
The invention refers to a system to make illustrations which encloses at least a piece of writable material consisting of a front and back side; at least an ink-producing writing material in order to write and or draw on the material.
Such systems are common knowledge, for example in the shape of pieces of transparent material on which sheets can be written and drawn in order to offer presentations with the aid of overhead projectors.
The invention contemplates a system of the above mentioned, which offers alternative means of usage. The system according to the invention is characterized by the framework in which the sheet is being placed such as a sheet or film attachments in order to attach both the sheet and the framework on a vertical upper surface. The first profitable means of usage which is being realised, is to make it possible for children who are seated on the back seat of a car to draw an illustration on the sheet and subsequently to exhibit this image by attaching it to a side window of the car. Preferably the sheet is mainly transparent for this application, as not to endanger the driver of the car by taking away his or her visibility.
Hence the activity of drawing is combined with driving along with a person which leads to a satisfactory situation for both child and driver, because the child is being entertained in a pleasant way.
Of course these illustrations can also be produced by adults.
The second profitable means of usage which is being realised according to this invention is the manufacturing of illustrations at home and for example in shops, by which the sheet of material is being attached to an integral window or to a window on a facade. In the latter case the illustration can be viewed by passers-by.
The system according to the invention can be used for example to spread commercial messages and/or to propagata political and or religious messages by attaching these messages to the inside of a car -, shop - or home window.
With the proper choice of means of attachments the system can also be attached to a wall or any other ver tical surface.
For some usages the sheet material can be essentially intransparent and moreover to be arranged in a way that it is pervious to the ink of the writing material from the front to the back side of the sheet material. In particular the application where the means of attachment is situated on the back side of the sheet material where the framework is attached to a transparent wall, such as a window, through which the illustration can be viewed.
Preferably the ink should be covering to insure a clearly viewable illustration.
For many usages it is demanded that the ink is non-permanent (like with surafces such as the sheet material and/or clothes) and non-poisonous.
Normally speaking the ink is coming off through a writing point of an oblong writing material and in particular a felt-tipped pen.
In a preference design an essentially cartridge-shaped protection device is being placed around the writing point, which can be placed on the writing material in order to cover the writing point when it is not in contact with the sheet
In particular the protection device covers the writing point to reveal at least part of the writing point when this is placed on the sheet.
This shows an advantage in the earlier mentioned application of the system according to the invention when the writing material is being used by a child in the car and when it is undesirable when the ink of a writing material is coming off on the interior parts of a car.
In a preference design the protective device consists of a flexible and elastical material, such as rubber and simply designed as a bellows.
For a suitable purpose the system also consists of a case to put away the writing material, of which the case is provided with means, such as a sucker, to attach the case to the earlier mentioned surface α another preference design the system consists of erasers, such as a non-poisonous, ink-resolving substance on a piece of cloth, if desired washable to wipe off the ink of the sheet In a simple, inexpensive and fit for the purpose design, the framework is thread-like. The framework can also be partially u-shaped in the cross-section and connected to the bim of the material.
In order to place the sheet adjacent to the mentioned surface, the front is partially provided with ribs, which are situated transverse across the surface of the material, of which the extreme points are intended to rest against the surface. The sheet is therefore being held at a suitable distance of the surface in order to prevent undesired accumulation of moisture, because of the created ventilation.
When connecting the construction of the sheet and the frame to a smooth surface the use of one or more suckers is preferred. The preference design contains a connection between the sheet and the frame and each sucker consists of a first; male part and a second; female part by which the male part is inserted in the female part in order to produce a detachable connection.
In this case the sucker(s) can be placed permanently on the surface, by which the construction of the sheet and the frame can be loosened in order to repeatedly apply illustrations on the surface.
The invention is now being illustrated in detail with the help of a drawing in which several design examples of parts of a system are shown, by which: figure 1 : shows a framework in perspective with a sheet figure 2: shows on an enlarged scale a cross-section according to line E-II from the component of figure 1. figure 3-5 : shows a part of a cross-section of alternative designs. figure 6: shows a part of a cross-section of another design in contact with a surface figure 7-8 : show means of attachments in cross-section according to the invention. figure 9-10: show partially in cross-section several designs of writing materials according to the invention figure 11. shows a writing material holder and erasers.
In several figures the same reference numbers are refering to the same parts or parts which have the same function.
Figure 1 and 2 show a sheet 1, preferably made of a transparent synthetic material. The sheet 1 which for the sake of clearness is represented considerably fatter than it will be in reality, is provided with a frame 2, which as figure 2 shows in detail, contains a threadlike body 3, round which the edge of the sheet 1 is applied in a suitable way.
The threadlike body 3 can be made of metal and can be connected to the edges of the sheet 1 while being stretched, in order to keep the sheet stretched through the threadlike body and thus to make it possible to keep the sheet tight.
The shape of the sheet can be chosen as one desires, for example round, rectangular, etc.
Figure 3 shows a u-shaped frame 4, made for example of synthetic material, which is attached to the edge of the sheet 1.
Figure 4 shows a flat framework 5, made for example of cardboard, in which the edge of the sheet is placed.
Figure 5 shows a frame 6 of the kind shown in figure 3 which is provided with ribs 6a and 6b, which stretch out across the surface of the sheet 1.
Figure 6 shows a frame 7 of the kind shown in figure 3, which is provided with rib 7a, which stretches out across the surface of the sheet 1, intended to rest on a surface such as a wall or a window-pane (like window-pane 8). The rib 7a sees to it that a proper distance is being held between the sheet 1 and the surface.
Figure 7 shows a sheet 1 on which sucker 9 is fixed, for example with the means of glueing or welding. A sucker 9 enables the sheet 1 to be fixed on a smooth surface such as a window-pane.
In figure 1 10 spots are indicated by means of dotted lines where the suckers 9 can be fixed to the sheet 1. Obviously it is possible to combine the design according to figure 7 with a frame as shown in the designs of figure 2-6. Figure 8 shows the ό^ig of the frame according to figure 2.
On the frame a number of ribs 11 are placed across the surface of the sheet 1, each provided with a thickened extremity. The ribs 11 are intended to be placed in a hole 12 of a sucker 13, which then can be placed on a smooth surface.. The measures of the hole 12 are such, that a firm and loose connection between the frame and the sucker 13 can be obtained.
It is also possible to place similar ribs which in substance are parallel to the surface of the sheet 1 from the frame. These ribs can be placed in a sidehole of a sucker. Of course the rib can also be placed on the sucker, where the hole belonging to the rib can also be placed in the frame. Figure 9 shows a felt-tipped pen 14 with a writing point 15. Around writing point 15 a moveable, substance pod-shaped protection 16, is placed, of which the writing point 15 end is obtained, in a fixed cartridge 17 of the felt-tipped pen 14 on a wall, and is kept under pressure of a spring 18. As a consequence the protection 16 normally speaking will cover the writing point 15, in order to keep the ink from the writing point 15 to run in an undesired way. As soon as the felt-tipped pen 14 is being placed on a surface, such as the sheet 1, the protection device 16 will be pushed away in order to bare part of the writing point 15, so that the felt-tipped pen can be used regularly as writing material.
Figure 19 shows a felt-tipped pen 19 with a writing point 20 which normally speaking will be covered by a bellows 21, which is made of a flexible and elastic material. When writing with the felt-tipped pen 19 the bellows will be pushed so far inward, that
