Abstract

Power supply device for the instrumentation of a fish farming plant, in which feeding takes place by means of a so-called central feeding plant. A blade wheel or a turbine, which is arranged to drive an electric generator, has a feed hose (1) arranged thereto and connected to the central feeding plant, liquid or air flowing and transporting feed in the feed hose, being lead or directed towards the blade wheel or turbine. The blade wheel comprises a rotor (4) with blades (5) which are made of a thread-like material or bristle in a way similar to a brush. The rotor (4) may be provided with magnets inducing electric voltage in a stationary coil (6) enclosed by the rotor (4).

Description

POWER SUPPLY DEVICE

The invention relates to a power supply device, in particular for the instrumentation of fish farming plants.

The instrumentation of fish farming plants often involves electronic equipment like sensors and video cameras being placed outdoors, and maybe at quite a distance from a building or other place where it is practical to observe and record signals from said electronic equipment. In sea farming plants, electronic equipment placed outdoors, is often liable to faults, and damages to electric cables are a common source of faults.

A sufficiently robust installation for electric cables is expensive, and it is known to transfer measurement signals by radio. If cables are to be avoided completely, it is necessary to arrange for battery operation of sensors and radio equipment, and this involves some extra work, as batteries have to be replaced or recharged regularly. By automated feeding, for example by means of a so- called central feeding plant, in which the feed is conveyed in hoses by air-flow or liquid flow, it is desirable to monitor the fish both before, during and after feeding. It may, for example, be of interest to stop the feeding in response to signals from feed waste detectors in the fish pen.

The farmer may get a picture of how the fish is doing, he may discover disease and other things by monitoring the behaviour of the fish, in particular in connection with feeding. Video cameras may then be needed, both on the surface and under water.

The object of the invention is to provide a device which may supply electricity to sensors, video cameras, radio transmitters and other electrical equipment, which is placed in or near a pen, to which feed is supplied by means of a central feeding plant.

The aim is reached through the features stated in the following description and subsequent claims.

According to the invention electrical current is produced by means of a generator driven by a blade wheel or turbine, which is arranged in conjunction with a feed hose, connected to central feeding plant. The blade wheel or turbine is driven by the liquid or air conveying food to a pen. Thereby, energy from a pump, compressor or fan providing feed transport, is utilized.

To avoid damaging the feed particles, thus creating feed dust, and further to avoid dust, which is already in the feed, settling on the blades, it is convenient, according to the invention, to make the blades of a thread-like material or bristle attached to a rotor, so that a blade looks like a brush. The thread-like material may with advantage be a synthetic material.

The invention is described in the following by means of a non-limiting example of an embodiment, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which

Fig. 1 shows a schematic side view, partly in section, of a blade wheel with generator installed together with camera equipment and radio transmitter at the end of a feed hose;

Fig. 2 shows, on a larger scale, part of a blade.

In Fig. 1 the reference numeral 1 indicates a feed hose, which is connected to a not shown central feeding plant. To the end of the feed hose is connected a nozzle 2, which at its free end has an externally conical portion. The conical portion of the nozzle 2 is inserted into a conical hole in a housing 3 , which is attached to the nozzle 2 by a not shown clamping device. In the housing 3 is arranged a rotor 4, which is arranged to rotate about an axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the feed hose 1 and the nozzle 2. The rotor 4 is provided with radial blades 5 and placed in such a manner, that air or liquid flowing from the feed hose 1, out through the nozzle 2, hits the blades 5. The blades 5 are constructed as radial brushes, see Fig. 2. When feeding, the rotor 4 is rotated by flowing air or liquid and feed particles carried thereby. The rotor is provided with permanent magnets or electromagnets. The magnets are not shown.

The rotor 4 rotates, in a manner known in itself, about a stationary coil or winding, in which voltage is induced because of the movement of the rotor 4, as is known from electric generators. Necessary supports for rotor and other construction details are considered to be well known to a person of ordinary skill, and are thus not shown or described in detail.

In this embodiment, electric energy from a generator formed by the rotor 4 and a coil 6 is conducted to a camera 7 in the housing 3 , in which is arranged a transparent window 8. By means of the camera 7 pictures from the feed area of the pen may be transferred by wireless communication to not shown receiving equipment, the camera 7 having a radio transmitter arranged thereto, which also receives power from the generator 4, 6. In addition the radio transmitter 9 and the generator 4 , 6 may have further measuring equipment, subsea camera and other equipment which is not shown, arranged thereto via a cable 10.

Inside the housing 3 there may advantageously be arranged not shown batteries and possibly charging equipment for these. The electric linking up of said equipment is considered to be well known to a skilled person and will not be dealt with in further detail.

The generator 4, 6 provides the radio transmitter 9, the camera 7 and other possible electrically connected equipment with power while the feeding is proceeding. Outside feeding hours said batteries may supply power to at least parts of the electric equipment, and the batteries may be charged on each feeding.

1. Power supply device for the instrumentation of fish farming plants, in which feeding takes place by means of a so-called central feeding plant, c h a r a c - ter i z ed in that a blade wheel or a turbine, which is arranged to drive an electric generator, has a feed hose (1) arranged thereto and connected to the central feeding plant, liquid or air flowing and transporting feed in the feed hose, being lead or directed towards the blade wheel or turbine.
2. Device according to claim 1, character i z ed in that the blade wheel comprises a rotor (4) with blades (5) which are made of thread-like material or bristle in a way similar to a brush.
