Description

Device for disconnectable angle joint of two plates
Object of the invention is a device for disconnectable angle joint, preferably rectan¬ gular joint, of two plates, especially plates for manufacturing furniture, such as tables, wardrobes and special or purpose-built furniture compositions.
According to the invention a problem is solved how to design such a disconnectable joint for angle connection of two plates for the connection and disconnection whereof only a hammer would be required in a simple procedure, which is also un¬ derstood by someone unskilled in the art, whereby there are warranted firm connec¬ tion with strong horizontal stabilization of furniture, simple and cheap production, especially multiple disconnecting and connecting in similar or different utility com¬ positions, which are foreseen by the shape of the plates and by connecting elements disposed thereon.
Known are direct screw connections for angle joining plates. A deficiency of this joining lies in the limitation to the compact material of the plates. Such joining is, e.g., not convenient for waferboard and chipboard, especially if the joint is designed for multiple disconnection. Besides, at such joints also additional elements are necessary (pins or mortises and tenons) to accept transverse forces, horizontal stabilization by such joints is not foreseen, which increases the price of the product.
Eccentric joints are known as multiple disconnecting joints. A deficiency of these joints is the same as already mentioned above. Additionally, pins or mortises and tenons are needed, horizontal stabilization must be arranged separately, as well.
The above-cited technical problem is solved by the device according to the invention in a manner that one plate, which is foreseen for angle connection with the second plate, is in juncture edge embodied with a tenon, the second plate is in the place of connection with the first plate embodied with a mortise in which is placed one part of the connecting device. This part is designed as a frame, which fits in the mortise of the plate, whereby one longer side of the frame is on the inner side arranged as an inclination so that the inner cross-section of the frame decreases in the direction to the connecting side with the second plate. On the outer side , i.e., facing side of the frame, the aperture is partly closed so that only a slot is formed for insertion of the the wedge as second part of the connecting device, whereby the inclination or the angle of the wedge is such that, lying on the inclination in the aperture of the frame, the second, i.e. the free surface of the wedge runs in parallel with the opposite sur¬ face of the frame aperture. In this way there is ensured a surface lying of the wedge on the tenon of the another plate and its lying on the opposite surface of aperture.
All described parts for a disconnectable angle connection according to the invention can be designed differently in details or as regarding form . In the continuation, the invention will be explained precisely by the description of the preferable embodi¬ ment, which is foreseen for use in furniture industry, especially for the manufacture of the shelves, writing tables, playthings or seat-table compositions, vending, exhibi¬ tion and office compositions or sets.
The embodiment described below is shown in attached drawings, wherein
Fig. 1 shows a device for disconnectable angle connection of two plates according to the invention in exploded view; Fig. 2 shows the same device in cross-section and in connected state; and Fig. 3 shows a cross-section of the frame and the wedge in exploded view.
A device 1 for disconnectable angle junction of two plates 2 and 3 consists of frame 4 and wedge 5. Frame 4 is designed as an oblong rectangular frame, whose shorter sides can be formed semi-circularly or convexed similarly for aesthetic purposes. Fur¬ ther, one inner surface 6 of the frame 4 is designed with inclination so that the inner outline 7 of the frame 4 decreases from one open side to the other one. The frame 4 can on the side of the larger inner outline 7 be partly closed with the wall 8, which is preferably embodied uniformly in the frame 4 so that in this part there remains only an open slot 9, the cross-section whereof is nearly equal to the larger, i.e. beating zone 5' of the wedge 5. The frame 4 can on the side of the larger inner outline be ar¬ ranged with ornamental border 10, and on its outer surface arranged with wedging ribs 11. The width of wedge 5 nearly equals the length of slot 9, its thickness (height)on the wider side equalling the width of the slot 9. The angle of the wedge 5 is equal to the inclination of the inclined surface 6 of the frame 4.
The plate 2, which is foreseen to accept the frame 4, is designed with cuttings 12, wherein the frames 4 are pressed. On the edge 13 of the other plate 3, which is foreseen for the edge contact and connection with the first plate 2, there is in the fit¬ ting point of the frame 4 designed a tenon 14 of preferably rectangular shape, the width of which is smaller than the length of the inner outline 7 of the frame 4, and the height of which is smaller than the depth of the inner outline 7. The height of the in¬ ner outline 7 is greater than the thickness of the tenon 14, respectively, of the plate 3 so that at inserting the wedge 5 in the frame 4 through the slot 9 there is realized a joint produced by mechanical forces in such position of the hedge 5 in the frame that the beating zone 5' of the wedge 5 nearly lies in the level of the wall 8 of the frame 4.
The frame 4 and wedge 5 are preferably made of thermoplastic material by the method of injection casting and are according to the cited description also ornamen¬ tally finished.
In the preferable utility embodiment, for plates 2 and 3 of different furniture, surface finished wareboard, chipboard or laminboard is used. The described device can also be used in solid wood.
The device for disconnectable joining according to the invention is foreseen for angle connection of two plates on their common edge or on the edge contact of the plate arranged with tenon with another plate on which the frame of the device is placed anywhere.
The described embodiment of the device for disconnectable joining according to the invention requires no special time-consuming finishing of the plates on their edges with connecting tenons, while the visible edges are foreseen for any additional finish¬ ing, such as sticking profiles, strips, or colouring. The frame of the device is so designed that after inserting the wedge in it, no unfinished connecting edge of the tenon of another plate can be seen. Because of respectively large tenons on the first plate and of compact frame, at nor¬ mal plates of 20 mm thickness, this joint is already suitable to take over the horizon¬ tal stabilization at normal furniture compositions.
Knowing the described invention, it is possible to realize other embodiments of the frame and wedge without trespassing the novelty of the invention characterized in the claims.
