The junction fastener (1; 4) is comprising two opposite parallel vertically disposed perforated sheets (2; 5) and is characterized in that the sheets (2; 5) are centrally connected to a horizontally disposed axis symmetrical device (3) therebetween and the sheets (2; 5) being in a mutually spaced relationship corresponding to the width of the rafters and the roof beam. The said axis symmetrical device (3) is resting in corresponding recesses in the junction faces between two rafters or between rafters and the roof beam. The invention is providing a junction fastener which is self-supporting and self-centering. It gives an easy and thus a quick assembling of roof trusses and no special tools are required.

Description

Junction fastener
This invention relates to a junction fastene especially in construction of roof structures such as roo trusses for connection between two rafters and between rafters and a roof beam, the junction fastener comprising two opposit parallel vertical disposed perforated sheets. in construction of roof trusses, these may b prefabricated and transported by a vehicle to the building site, or assembled on the building site. In construction of houses having relatively acute angled roofs the prefabrication of the roof trusses is difficult, especially due to the transporatio to the building site. Thus, in construction of such houses the roof trusses are preferaby assembled on the building site.
The construction of roof trusses on the building sit is time consuming due to adaptions and adjustments.
From US patent No. 3 328056 it is known a bracket an a tension means for a haunch joint between a wall leg and a rafter element. However, this bracket is not suitable for connection between the elements of a roof truss.
The object of this invention is to provide a junctio fastener in construction of roof trusses which is self-supporting and self-centering, giving an easy and thus a quick assembling of the elements of the roof trusses and without requirement of special tools.
This object is achieved according to the invention i that the sheets are centrally connected to a horizontall disposed axis symmetrical device therebetween, the sheets bein in a mutual spaced relationship corresponding to the width of th rafters and the roof beam, the said axis symmetrical device i resting in corresponding recesses in the junction faces betwee rafters or between rafter and the roof beam. Preferable embodiments of the junction fastener ar stated in the dependent claims.
In construction of new, higher (more acute angled) roofs on existing houses for utilization of the ceiling to livin purposes, it is by means of the invention possible to construc roof trusses in a quick and easy way and thus obtain a ready new roof above the existing roof before it is removed. With that, the house is protected against wind and weather and habitable during the reconstruction time. The invention will now be described with reference to some preferred embodiments and to the drawings wherein Fig. 1 is a side view of a junction fastener with sheets having rectangular shape, Fig. 2 is an end view of the junction fastener on Fig. 1, Fig. 3 is a side view of a junction fastener with sheets having triangular shape, Fig. 4 is an end view of the junction fastener on Fig. 3, Fig. 5 is a side view of a roof truss constructed by means of the junction fastener, Fig. 6 is showing the detail A of the roof truss on Fig. 5 on a large scale with the junction fastener located in the junction faces between a rafter and a roof beam, Fig. 7 is showing the detail B of the roof truss on Fig. 5 on a large scale with the junction fastener located in the junction faces between two rafters.
Fig. 1 and 2 of the drawings is showing a junction fastener 1 with sheets 2 having rectangular shape by the connection between a rafter 8 and a roof beam 9 (Fig. 5 and 6). The junction fastener 1 is comprising two parallel sheets 2 with dimension 240 x 360 x 2,5 (mm) that are centrally connected to a pipe 3 having a diameter of 76 mm. The sheets 2 have perforations 6 with diameter 5 mm for fastening elements such as nails in the roof beam and the rafter. The end portions of the pipe 3 is situated in corresponding apertures in the sheet 2 and welded to the sheets on the outside along the circumference of the pipe 3. The spacing of the sheets 2 is corresponding to the width of the rafter 8 and roof beam 9, e.g. 40 mm. Fig. 3 and 4 of the drawings is showing a junction fastener 4 with sheets 5 having triangular shape by the connection between two rafters 8 (Fig. 5 and 7). It is obvious why the sheets have triangular shape in this case. The parallel triangular sheets 5 are right-angled and isosceles having cathetus length of 240 mm. The sheets 5 have perforations 6 with diameter 5 mm. The sheets 5 are made from the same sheet blank as the sheets 2 shown on Fig. 1 and 2. The pipe on Fig. 3 and 4 is connected to the sheets in the same way as the pipe 3 on Fig. 1 and 2. The spacing of the sheets 5 is corresponding to the width of the rafters 8, e.g. 40 mm.
Fig. 5 of the drawings is showing a typical roof trus
7 constructed (Fig. 6 and 7) by means of the junction fastene according to the invention. By the construction of roof trusses firstly the roo beams (9) and the rafters 8 are measured and cut. In the face of the roof beams and rafters forming the junction face therebetween (Fig. 6 and 7) are measured and made the semi cylindrical recesses having a diameter corresponding to th diameter of the pipe 3. A junction fastener 1 with sheets having rectangular shape is fastened to the lower end of a rafte
8 by means of nails or other fastening means through th perforations 6. One half of the pipe 3 is now resting accuratel in the semi-cylindrical recess of the rafter 8. By the raisin of the rafter 8 on the roof beam 9, the lower end of the rafte 8 is guided along the upper surface of the roof beam 9 by mean of the sheets 2 disposed on each side of the roof beam 9 unti the pipe 3 is entering the semi-cylindrical recess of the roo beam 9. The rafter 8 is now exactly connected to the roof bea 9. The junction fastener 4 with sheets 5 having triangular shap is providing corresponding guiding and exact connection betwee the rafters 8 (Fig. 7).
