- G05B19/409—Numerical control [NC], i.e. automatically operating machines, in particular machine tools, e.g. in a manufacturing environment, so as to execute positioning, movement or co-ordinated operations by means of programme data in numerical form characterised by using manual data input [MDI] or by using control panel, e.g. controlling functions with the panel; characterised by control panel details or by setting parameters
Definitions
- Operating stations of known program-controlled machines have a screen, a keyboard for entering and correcting program data, and a large number of selection buttons and potentiometers for set-up operation and machine operation. Furthermore, the known operating stations often still have display instruments. In addition to program data, the position of the axes, setpoints, error messages, start conditions etc. are also displayed on the screen. The machine operator must also take the values of the separate display instruments into account. This leads to very high demands on the operator and thus to long set-up and changeover times. Due to the large number of selector buttons, the probability of incorrect operation is high. 8/0006
- a numerical control device with two screens is known from Patent Abstracts of Japan, Volume 10, No. 241 (P-488) (2297), Aug. 20, 1986.
- machine tool controls e.g. The machining process of the machine tool is displayed on one screen, while the data for the next program step are simultaneously input using the second screen and a keyboard.
- the invention has for its object to provide a more user-friendly control panel.
- This object is achieved by the characterizing features of claim 1.
- By dividing the display into two screens not only is a clear representation achieved, but moreover it is possible to assign each of the screens a computer which is optimally adapted to the data to be displayed by the screen.
- the functions assigned to the selection elements can be greatly reduced. This makes operation clear and greatly reduces the likelihood of incorrect operation.
- Since the functions assigned to the selection elements are displayed on the screen, these operating instructions can be programmed in the respective national language.
- the labeling of the board is standardized and simplified. The same operating station can be used for different types of machines and can therefore be manufactured in large numbers. As a result of this and by reducing the number of operating elements, the operating station according to the invention can be inexpensively manufactured compared to known stations.
- Fig. 2 is a schematic block diagram, and - 4 -
- the operating station 1 shown contains two screens 2, 3, a keyboard 4, a field of 16 selection buttons 5 and an emergency stop button 6.
- the keyboard 4 is connected to a commercially available CNC control 10 and is used for input or correction of program data.
- the program can also be read into the controller 10 from an external source.
- the controller 10 controls the connected multi-axis machine tool 11 and displays the content of the program and the position of the axes of the machine 11 as well as the current program set during processing via a video controller 12 on the screen 2 on the screen 2.
- the selection buttons 5 are connected to a programmable logic controller 13. This is in connection with the controller 10 and, via a further video controller 14, displays 3 different images on the screen.
- FIG. 3 When the system is switched on to the network, an image according to FIG. 3 appears on screen 3.
- machine type 20 is displayed first.
- the symbols 21 of the selection buttons 5 are shown in a horizontal, bar-shaped window 9 at the bottom of the screen, of which the activated ones are identified with a displayed short text 22.
- the next common step is to press Fl (control on).
- the image according to FIG. 5 appears on the screen.
- the symbols 21 of the selection buttons 5 are again shown at the bottom and the active ones are again identified by short text 22.
- the error messages which are currently pending on the machine are listed in a window 8.
- window 7 the details of the current operating state of the machine are listed. Only a limited number of lines can be faded into both windows 7, 8 if the font size is easy to read. The lists can be longer.
- By positioning the cursor on window 7 or 8 by pressing F7 or F15, and by pressing F6 or F14, the text in each window separately in ascending or rolled down.
- "As a visual indication that more advertisements in the memory The last display (above or below) can be displayed in a different font, so that it is immediately apparent whether the scroll must be scrolled upwards or downwards and is shown on the entire screen according to FIG. 6.
- F10 is normally pressed as the next step (preselection of automatic mode).
- An image according to FIG. 7 appears on the screen with the associated full text according to FIG. 8 when F8 is pressed. Pressing F8 again brings the image back to Fig. 7. Pressing F16 brings the image of Fig. 5 back on the screen.
- the target data important for the operation of the machine are shown between windows 7, 8 and 9. If the setpoint of Feed, for example, is to be changed, the F4 or F12 button is pressed. The display runs step by step in the + or - sense as long as the button is pressed. There- - 7 -
- the target speed can also be shown in rpm.
- the button F2 Preselection manual mode
- FIG. 5 An image according to Fig. 9 appears on the screen. 10 shows the full text which appears after F8 has been printed.
- the single axis that is active is named; in Fig. 9 this is the Z axis. You can scroll through the saved axes by pressing F3 or Fll. Setpoints are also changed here as described above, but separately for each axis. - ö -
- the example shown is a section of the work flow for a four-axis machine tool.
- machines with more than four axes can also be operated with the same operating station.
- the number of selection buttons can be reduced even further for a machine with fewer axes.
- the selection buttons 5 can be omitted entirely if the symbols 21 shown in the table in the window 9 can be actuated directly on the screen 3, e.g. with a light pen or by moving a cursor with a mouse. In this case, the symbols 21 form the selection elements. Such an operating station can then be used universally.
