Abstract
A new and distinct groundcover Rosa plant named ‘BORUIWHIVA’ is disclosed, characterized by abundant highly scented white flowers flushed pink. Plants are compact and low growing, suitable for groundcover use. The new variety is a Rosa, normally produced as an outdoor garden or container plant.
Description
Latin name of the genus and species: Rosa hybrida.
Variety denomination: ‘BORUIWHIVA’.
The new Rosa cultivar is a product of a planned breeding program conducted by the inventor. The cross resulting in this new variety was made in April of 2009 at a nursery in Boskoop, The Netherlands.
The seed parent is the unpatented variety Rosa ‘Snow Pavement’. The pollen parent is the unpatented variety Rosa ‘BOKRATRACK’. The new variety was selected in September 2012 by the inventor at the same nursery in Boskoop, The Netherlands. The inventor continued observing characteristics of the new variety for several years, in the controlled conditions of the research nursery.
Asexual reproduction of the new cultivar was performed by vegetative softwood cuttings. This was first performed at a greenhouse in Amstelveen, The Netherlands, in September 2012, and has shown that the unique features of this cultivar are stable and reproduced true to type in successive generations.
The cultivar ‘BORUIWHIVA’ has not been observed under all possible environmental conditions. The phenotype may vary somewhat with variations in environment such as temperature, day length, and light intensity, without, however, any variance in genotype.
The following traits have been repeatedly observed and are determined to be the unique characteristics of ‘BORUIWHIVA’ These characteristics in combination distinguish ‘BORUIWHIVA’ as a new and distinct Rosa cultivar:

- 2. Abundant white to very light pink flowers.
- 3. Few hips produced.
- 4. Strong rose fragrance.
Plants of the new cultivar ‘BORUIWHIVA’ are similar to plants of the seed parent in most horticultural characteristics, however, plants of the new cultivar ‘BORUIWHIVA’ differ in the following:

- 1. Flowers of the new cultivar have more pink coloration than flowers of the seed parent.
- 2. Plants of the new cultivar are more compact than plants of the seed parent.
- 3. Plants of the new cultivar produce less thorns than plants of the seed parent.
Plants of the new cultivar ‘BORUIWHIVA’ are similar to plants of the pollen parent in most horticultural characteristics, however, plants of the new cultivar ‘BORUIWHIVA’ differs in the following;

Plants of the new cultivar ‘BORUIWHIVA’ can be compared to the commercial cultivar Rosa ‘Mont Blanc’, unpatented. These cultivars are similar in most horticultural characteristics, however ‘BORUIWHIVA’ differs in the following:

- 1. This new cultivar has flowers with more pink coloration than this comparator.
- 2. This new cultivar produces more flowers per plant than this comparator.
- 3. The new cultivar has less thorns than this comparator.
The accompanying photograph illustrates a close-up view of a typical flower of ‘BORUIWHIVA’. The photograph was taken using conventional techniques and although colors may appear different from actual colors due to light reflectance it is as accurate as possible by conventional photographic techniques.
In the following description, color references are made to The Royal Horticultural Society Colour Chart 2007 except where general terms of ordinary dictionary significance are used. The following observations and measurements describe ‘BORUIWHIVA’ plants grown outdoors in Camarillo, Calif. The growing temperature ranged from approximately 15° C. to 28° C. during the day and from approximately 8° C. to 15° C. during the night. Measurements were taken in April and May. General light conditions were very bright, normal sunlight. Measurements and numerical values represent averages of typical plant types.
