Abstract
A new Dahlia plant designated ‘KLEDH20215’ particularly distinguished by a dark pink-purple flower color and a medium earliness, is disclosed.
Description
Genus and species: Dahlia sp.
Variety denomination: ‘KLEDH20215’.
The present invention comprises a new and distinct variety of Dahlia, botanically known as Dahlia sp., and hereinafter referred to by the variety name ‘KLEDH20215’. ‘KLEDH20215’ originated from a controlled cross conducted in September 2016 in Stuttgart, Germany, between the proprietary female Dahlia ‘DH-2015-2242’ (not patented) and the proprietary male Dahlia ‘DH-2015-2244’ (not patented).
In May 2017, a seedling was selected and named ‘KLEDH20215’. ‘KLEDH20215’ was first vegetatively propagated by vegetative cuttings in May 2017 in Stuttgart, Germany. ‘KLEDH20215’ was found to reproduce true to type in successive generations of asexual propagation.
The following are the most outstanding and distinguishing characteristics of ‘KLEDH20215’ when grown under normal horticultural practices in Stuttgart, Germany.
-
- 1. Dark pink-purple flower color; and
- 2. Medium earliness.
This new Dahlia plant is illustrated by the accompanying photograph of the plant approximately four months old and grown in a greenhouse in Stuttgart, Germany. The photograph shows the whole plant, unless otherwise noted, including the inflorescences and foliage and buds and was taken in July 2020 in Stuttgart, Germany. The colors shown are as true as can be reasonably obtained by conventional photographic procedures.
The following detailed descriptions set forth the distinctive characteristics of ‘KLEDH20215’. The data which define these characteristics were collected from asexual reproductions carried out in Latina, Italy. Data was collected on 15 week old plants potted at week five in May 2021 and grown in a plastic greenhouse. Color references are to The R.H.S. Colour Chart of The Royal Horticultural Society of London (R.H.S.), 5th edition (2007).
