Abstract
Description
Latin name of the genus and species: Pulmonaria spp.
Variety denomination: ‘LISA MARIE’.
The new Pulmonaria cultivar is a product of a natural occurring mutation, discovered by the inventors, Lisa and Bradley Grover, in Belvidere, Ill. This new variety was found and selected in June 1995 in a private garden.
The parent variety is an unpatented, unnamed variety of Pulmonaria. The new variety was discovered as a naturally occurring whole plant mutation.
Asexual reproduction of the new cultivar ‘LISA MARIE’ by vegetative cuttings was first performed during 2014, at a nursery in Belvidere, Ill. Subsequent propagation has shown that the unique features of this cultivar are stable and reproduced true to type in multiple successive generations.
The cultivar ‘LISA MARIE’ has not been observed under all possible environmental conditions. The phenotype may vary somewhat with variations in environment such as temperature, day length, and light intensity, without, however, any variance in genotype.
The following traits have been repeatedly observed and are determined to be the unique characteristics of ‘LISA MARIE’ These characteristics in combination distinguish ‘LISA MARIE’ as a new and distinct Pulmonaria cultivar:

- 1. Distinctively larger, longer leaves.
- 2. Uniquely large flowers.
- 3. Unusually pink-red flower color.
Plants of the new cultivar ‘LISA MARIE’ are similar to plants of the parent variety in most horticultural characteristics, however, plants of the new cultivar ‘LISA MARIE’ differ in the following;

- 1. The new variety has larger, longer leaves.
- 2. The new variety has larger flowers.
- 3. The new variety has a brighter pink flower color.
Plants of the new cultivar ‘LISA MARIE’ can be compared to the commercial variety Pulmonaria ‘Raspberry Splash’, U.S. Plant Pat. No. 12,138. These varieties are similar in most horticultural characteristics; however ‘LISA MARIE’ differs in the following:

- 2. The new variety has larger flowers.
- 3. The new variety has a brighter flower color.
Plants of the new cultivar ‘LISA MARIE’ can be compared to the unpatented commercial variety Pulmonaria ‘Trevi Fountain’. These varieties are similar in most horticultural characteristics; however ‘LISA MARIE’ differs in the following:

- 1. ‘Lisa Marie’ has larger, longer leaves.
- 2. ‘Lisa Marie’ has larger flowers.
- 3. ‘Lisa Marie’ has pink-red flower, flowers of ‘Trevi Fountain’ are blue.

The photographs were taken using conventional techniques and although colors may appear different from actual colors due to light reflectance it is as accurate as possible by conventional photographic techniques.
In the following description, color references are made to The Royal Horticultural Society Colour Chart 2015 except where general terms of ordinary dictionary significance are used. The following observations and measurements describe ‘LISA MARIE’ plants grown in a nursery in Belvidere, Ill., under natural lighting. The plants were about 1 year old in 1 gallon containers. The growing temperature ranged from 12° C. to 27° C. Measurements and numerical values represent averages of typical plant types.
