The nature of my design is folly represented in the accompanying printed illustration7 to which' reference is made.

This design consists ofn Gothic letter with shade, and having :in inside pnnel sunk inte the face of the letter, which is also shaded, thus leaving a narrow raised border around the outsidennd inside ot' the letters. These letters also have their curved ports upon their outer sides beveled in nn oetngonal forli', while the inner parts remain curved, :is shoun in the letter L', thus presenting n new eoinbinntion ot' beveled and round pnrts, und diil'ezeut., in this respect, from the ordinary (reeinn.
