Su af To s' s g mman 0011101871 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOEL HALL, 2D, OF WALLINGFORD, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO HALL, ELTON & CO., OF SAIIE PLACE.
DESIGN FOR SUGAR-TONGS.
Specification forming part of Design No. 5,307, dated October 10, 1871.
To all 'whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOEL HALL, 2d., of Wallingford, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Design for Sugar-Tongs; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawing constitutes part of this specification, and represents in- Figure 1, a front view, and in Fig. 2 a side View.
rIhis invention relates to a design for the ends of sugar-tongs and instruments for like purposes; and consists in forming the ends of the tongs in representation of a web-foot, as fully shown in the accompanying,I illust-ration.
- The part of the tongs above the tips may be of any desirable style or form. The ends consist of three prongs, a, representing claws, connected by a web, d, and vertically curved, as seen in Fig. 2, which gives to the interior a spoonshape.
This design possesses a certain amount of utility, as the web connection between the claws allows of the taking up of finer grains than could be done without the web.
By the title sugar-tongs I wish to be understood as embracing all articles of like construetion, regardless of size, as for-ice and salad-tongs.
I cla-ini as my invention- The design for sugar-tongs, substantially as described and shown.
