MOTOR VEHICLE BODY.
[Application 11.4 July 12 1000.
INVENTUR:
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN II. MACALMAN, OF SOMERVILLE, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO THE LOCOMOBILE COMPANY OF AMERICA, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A MOTOR-VEHICLE BODY.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 33,055, dated August '7, 1900. pplication filed July 12, 1900. $erlal No. 23,421. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN H. MACALMAN, of Somerville, in the county of Middlesex and State of Massachusetts, haveinvented and produced a certain new and original Design for a Motor-Vehicle Body, of which the following is a specification.
My design, which relates to two seated motor-vehicles, is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, showing a perspective view of the vehicle-body.
The characteristics of the design are as follows: The bottom line of the body on each side is substantially straight and horizontal from the rear end of said body to a point 2 near the front end, where it takes an upward slant. The top line of the body slopes downwardly from the front end, diverging slightly from the bottom line until at about the point 3,where it becomes horizontal, and continuing to about the point 4 it becomes substantially vertical and forms the front line of the front seat 5. The line again becomes horizontal at about the point 6 and forms the top line of the seat-arm. At 7 the front line of the back of the seat begins and extends nearly vertical, but with a slight rearward inclination, curving toward the horizontal at 8 and meeting the back line of the seat-back at 9. The said back line extends in a general vertical direction, but with a slight forward inclination from the point 9 to about the point 10, which is at substantially the same level as the point 3. The line then becomes horizontal, and at 11 the outline of the rear seat 12 begins. This outline is a repetition of that of the front seat except that at a point 13 about midway of the height of the seat the top line of the body becomes horizontal and extends to the point 14 and there meets the back line 15 of the body, which extends nearly vertical, but with a slight forward inclination to the point 16, which marks the beginning of the bottom line 1.
I claim- The design for a motor-vehicle body, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have afiixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JOHN H. MACALMAN.
