To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DANIEL A. LOESER, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing at Sag Harbor, in the county of Sufiolk and State of New York, have invented and prod uced a new and original Design for Backs for llrushes,Mirrors, orSimilar Articles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which shows the back of a brush or mirror having my design applied thereto.
The leading or characteristic feature of my design consists of a series of ribs on the outer edge of the back, increasing in size toward the handle, and wreaths of flowers partially surrounding a plain central field and separated from said ribs by raised ribs which at the outer end of the back merge into a fanciful scroll and at the opposite end into a bouquet of flowers, the handle being decorated in harmony with the back, as shown.
Referring to the drawing, A represents the back for a brush or mirror, and B the handle. Near the outer edge of the back are ribs 0, increasing in size toward the handle and merging in the scrolls D.
E represents wreaths of flowers, partially surrounding the plain central portion F and separated from the ribs O by thelines or ribs G, the latter ending in the scrolls II at one end of the back and in the bouquet of flowers I at the opposite end.
The handle ll is decorated in harmony with the back, being provided with the ribs J at the sides and with the foliated scrolls K at the end.
