DESIGN FOR A KEY FOR CLAMP-BUCKLES.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 25,800, dated July 21, 1896.

Application filed April 16,1896- Qeriai No, 587,864. Term of patent 14 years.

To all whom it may concern:

lie it known that I, Gnonen F. STANSBURY, a citizen of the United States, residing at \Veedsport, in the county of Cayuga and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Key for luckles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.

Figure 1 is an isometric view of a key for buckles, showing my design; Fig. 2, an isometric view of said key as appearing in an inverted position; and Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional elevation of the key, said three representations being deemed advisable to fully illustrate my design.

Similar letters of reference denote corres pondin g parts throughout the several views.

The leading and particularly distinguishing features of my design consist in the elongated trough-like portion, presenting a horizontally-flat top surface bounded laterally by dependent side portions of elongated wedgeshape contour respectively as viewed sidewise, their lower straight edges presenting gradually converging lines longitudinally from their rear commencement in the direction of the forward portion of the key, all the hcreinhefore specified lines merging into a head-like portion which presents in plan an appearance of a link or elongated loop located transversely to the direction of length of the merging parts, and in side or longitudinal section presenting to the eye an upwardlycurved outline in respect to both its upper and lower surfaces, the ends of the linkshaped head appearing segmental and sweep ing, respectively, out beyond the merging wedge-like sides before referred to.

A is the horizontally-flat upper surface of the main and elongated portion of the key, which surface is smooth at its forward part, as at o, and serrated or presenting a series of transversely-situated grooves or indentations b from the termination of the smooth field rearwardly to the ending of the surface A.

A indicates the horizontally flat and smooth appearing bottom surface of the main portion of the key, and, on a lower plane, parallel to the upper surface mentioned.

B B are longitudinal side portions depending from the horizontally-fiat portion above, and of a wedge-like contour in plan elevation, and presenting at their bottom boundaries straight lines converging forwardly until in close juxtaposition to the upper horizontal surface A, said convergently-extended lines being indicated by the letters 0 c. The interior faces of the side portions present, respectively, a wedge-like contour, as at r'c', and intersecting at their upper level boundary-lines the flat under face A", Moreover by the convergence of lines to a point forwardly and blending with the front part of the under face A, as at (Z (7, a pointed appearance is given the interior faces 0' c of the side portions B 13.

At C is indicated a head like portion, wherein the body portion hereinbcfore described is merged at its forward terminal ion, which part C presents to the vision either in top or bottom plan an elongated link or loop configuration, uniting with the body portion of the key and disposed, as regards length, at a right angle thereto, its segmental-shaped extremities e e projecting laterally beyond the sides B B and uniting forwardly in a transversely-running straight part c, causing an elongated slot or opening e" appearing to the eye.
