UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
\VILLIAM II. HART, OF NEW BRITAIN, CONNECTICUT.
DESIGN FOR A HINGE-LEAF.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Design No. 23,506, dated July 24, 1894.
pp i ati n filed April 10, 1894. Serial No. 507,042. Term of patent 14 years.
i.) all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. HART, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Britain, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Hinge-Leaf, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof, in which the figure is a front elevation of a hinge-leaf showing my design.
A designates a strap leaf of the ordinary tapering contour, rounded at its outer end as shown and having an ordinary knuckle a. In the body of said leaf at the wider end isa circular opening 3 and by the side thereof in a narrower portion isa second circular opening 4 and by the side of that in a still narrower portion a smaller circular opening 5 as shown. The and screw hole 7 is near the end of the strap, while the middle screw hole 8 is between the circular openings 4 and 5 as shown. The screw holes Oat the wider end are formed near the top and bottom edges, above and below the openings 3, as shown.
In Fig. 2 I have shown a hinge in which the left hand leaf is of the ordinary rectangular form and the right hand leaf is of my design.
I wish it distinctly understood that I make no claim whatever to the design for the left hand leaf of Fig. 2 but confine my design strictly to the strap form of leaf which appears in both sides of Fig. 1 and the right hand side of Fig. 2.
What I claim is- The design for the strap leaf of a hinge, substantially as herein shown and described.
\VM. H. HART.
