l/VILBUR II. GAINES, OF VVATERBURY, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO THE ROGERS & HAMILTON COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A HANDLE FOR SPOONS, 800.
SPECIFICATION forming part. of Design No. 22,746, dated August 29, 1893.
Application filed July 26, 1893. Serial No. 481,556- Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, VVILBUR II. GAINES, a citizen of the United States, residing at Waterbury, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Handles for Spoons, Forks, &c.; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The accompanying drawing is a front elevation of a handle embodying my design, a spoon-bowl and fork being shown respectively in solid and dotted lines at the lower end of the handle.
The leading features of my design are,the side edges of the handle regularly diverging from the bottom to the top, the two similar series of raised foliate patterns on the obverse 7 side of the handle and parallel respectively with the said edges and increasing in size from the bottom to the top of the handle, the two inwardly extending raised combined scroll and foliate patterns surmounting the first mentioned patterns at the head of the handle, and the plain surface contained between the side patterns and gradually increasing in width from bottom to top.
1 are the side edges of the handle,2 the foliate patterns parallel with such edges, 3 the inwardly extending combined scroll and foliate patterns at the head of the handle, and I the plain surface between the lateral pat terns.
I claim- The design for handles for spoons, forks, &c., substantially as shown in the accompanying drawing.
