DESIGN FOR A SIGN.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design N o. 21 ,336, dated February 2, 1892. Application filed January 9. 1892- Scrial No. 417,588- Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ITHIEL S. RICHARDSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ohieago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original Design in Signs and other Ornaments, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part hereof, in which the figure is a face view in elevation of the sign.
In the drawing, A represents the face of the sign, consisting of alternating stripes in contrasting colors, such as red and white, for instance.
B is a representation of Justice placed on one end of the sign so as to stand out in bold relief and formed in contrasting colors to the face of the sign,by which the figure will stand out prominent and distinct.
C is the representation of an angel placed on the opposite end of the sign from the representation of Justice and formed in contrasting colors to the face of the sign, so as to have the figure stand out prominent and in bold relief.
lhe essential feature of the sign is a [mole ground formed of alternating stripes of contrasting colors, with the representation of Justice at one end and the representation of an angel at the other end, leavinga space between the two figures on the face of the sign to receive the lettering or other marks indieatory of the business of the party using the sign, the colors for the alternating stripes and the colors for the representations of J ustice and an angel having a contrasting relation by which the face of the sign will be clear and distinct, so as to catch the eye, and the representations of the figures will stand out prominent and in bold relief, producing a positive and striking effect.
