UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES S. MESSINGER, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR A CLOTH FABRIC.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 16,318, dated October 6, 1885.
Application filed J mm 9, 1885. Serial No. 168,183. Term of patent 33 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES S. Mnssmenn, a resident of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented and produced, by my own industry, genius, efforts, and expense, a new and original Design for Cloth Fabric, of which the following is a full description, in connection with the accompanying drawing, which represents a face view of my new design for cloth fabric.
This invention relates to a design for a cloth fabric; and it consists of the new orna mentation of the face of a cloth fabric.
In the accompanying drawing the cloth fabric is shown at A. On its face appear diagonal stripes a a, that are composed of parallel lines, as shown; and between these diagonal stripes the face of the fabric has other diagonal stripes, which present the eflect known as tricot. This is represented at b b-that is to say, there are series of substantially parallel dashes, in rows, between the said diagonal stripes a, the rows of dashes being at an acute angle to the said diagonal stripes; but said dashes are at right angles to the lines that compose the stripes a, as shown.
I claim- The design for the ornamentation the same consisting of the diagonal a and intervening diagonal stripes, in which are the tricot dashes b at right angles to the lines composing said stripes a, substantially as shown.
CHARLES S. MESSINGER.
