SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No; 14,221, dated August 21, 1883. I Application filed July 23, 1883. Term of patent 31.3mm.

To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, WINTHROP L. Jaoons,

of East Orange, New J ersey', have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad -to the accompanying photograph, which forms a part of the same.

Theinvent-ion relates to a '(lesign to be worked into or upon surfaces-such as carpets or similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein spa eifically shownand claimed.

The accompanying photograph is aface view of a carpet showing my new design.

The design consists of a net-work of small I 5 gem and leaf forms apranged regularly over the face of the'design on inconspicuous connecting stems, all as clearly shown in the photograph.

I claim The design for a carpet, substantially as shown and described.
