Y., ASSIGNOR TO THE MANHATTAN BRASS COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A FENDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 13,907, dated May 15, 1883.
Application filed March 19, 1883. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JAMEs H. WHITE, of the city and State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Design for Fenders, &c., of which the following is a specication.
The design relates to an open-work ot' sheet metal having a peculiar artistic e'ect.
The said design is represented in the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 shows the fender complete. Fig. 2 is an elevation in larger size of part ofthe sheet-metal ornament, and Fig. 3 is a sectional plan at the line a' The leatiet ornaments a, above the bases b, and the trefoil ornaments c and leatlets d are cut out in the sheet metal and repeated, to form a row ofornamental openings, as shown, and there is also another row of ornamental open-work formed by square openngsf, placed quinouncially, and the intervening metal, 0, is embossed in imitation of rivets and interlaced strips, so as to have the appearance of an in terlaced metallic lattice.
This fender is highly ornamental, and it may be made wider pr narrower, and provided with molded top hand molded base I.
I claim as my invention- 1. The design of the ornamental sheet-metal open-work, consisting of the leaets a, bases b, trefoils c, and leaets d, substantially as set forth.
2. The design ot' the ornamental sheet-metal open-work, consisting of the openingsfand intervening metallic hars in imitation ot' lattice, with embossed projections at the intersections, substantially as set forth.
