Be it known that I, Trace Christenson, Jr., a

citizen of the United States, residing at Evanston,

in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new, original, and ornamental Design for a Mechanical Pencil, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the ac comp'anying drawing, forming a part thereof.

In the drawing:

Fig. 1 is an enlarged side elevation of a mechanical pencil showing my new design and looking directly toward the clip side of the pencil.

Fig. 2 is a view similar to Fig. 1 but showing the pencil rotated on its longitudinal axis through an angle of 90.

Fig. 3 is an enlarged plan view looking toward the top end of the pencil.

Fig. 4 is a still further enlarged fragmentary section. on the line 44 of Fig. 2.

Fig. 5 is a View similar to Fig. 4 but taken on the line 55 of Fig. 2.

The body portion of the tip member, above the nose at the end, is formed with a number of thin longitudinally extending grooves.

I claim:

The ornamental design for a mechanical pencil, substantially as shown and described.
