Letters Patent A a 99,879, dated February 15, 1870.
IMPROVEMENT IN THE MANUFACTURE OF LOZENG-ES AND CONFECTIONERY.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making parts! the same.
Be it known that I, Ennns'r Gnnnnrrnnn, of New York city, county and State of New York, have invented a new combination or process by means of which Lozenges of all kinds can he be printed upon in Various Colors; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use thesarne.
The object of this invention is to enable the mam facturer to print upon any kind of lozenge with different colors, whereas, hitherto said lozenges have never been printed in more than one color.
The motto or sentence designed to be printed upon the lozenge is prepared in a stereotyped plate, with red or any other color, and it is then impressed upon the lozenge; and if it is designed that the letters. or words of the sentence or mottoshould be in difierent colors, the stereotypes are prepared with each color ornament, geometrical design, 850., is stereotyped, first in one color, (red, for example,)and then, if other colors are necessary to the completion of the design, the stereotypes are to be prepared with them, (for example, blue, green, and yellow,) and successively imprinted upon the lozenge until the whole design is completed by this process in whatever colors the printer or mannfacturer desires to represent.
Having thus described my invention,
- I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The process herein described for printing in different colors for the completion of mottos, sentences, words, designs, ornements pr borders upon lozenges or confectionery. 1
