. WATER-HEATER.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented June 20, 191 1..
Application filed July 6, 1910. Serial No. 570,605.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, Mimes K. lli-:Nonnsox and ANNA M. HENDnnsoN, citizens. ot"
theI United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the 'county of Philadelphia and State of lennsvlvania, have invented new and useiul lniln'ovements in \Vater Heaters, of
which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to water heatersl and more particularly to water heaters which are used in connection with gas ranges.
'the object of the invention is to provide a novel formot' burner and :oil to be used in connection therewith whereby a vrelatively large heatingsurface is produced so that a comparatively small number of heat units will produce a large quantity of heated water.
Further objects of the invention will appe: as the following specific description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing which forms a part of this application. and in which:
Figure l is a top plan view of a ,ons range showing coils applied thereto. Fig. 2 is a vertical section taken on the line ot' Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a similar section taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. l at right angles to the section of Fig.`2. f
Referring more-particularly to the drawing l represents the supply pipe and 2 'inediate arins 8 arranged betweenthe arms t3 and 7. All of these arms are provided with burner openings `9 and each arm 1s separated tronil the other by spaces which permit the passage ot' the coils 10 leading troni the inlet pipe ll which is connected to a water supply. preferably a water boiler. As shown the coils are all connected in-series and are connected at their opposite ends to an outlet pipe l2 which also leads to the 50 boiler not shown. The coils are each in'- terwoven between the burners in serpentine torln and rest upon longitudinal projections 25 and tst which extend vertically iroin the body of the burners il so as to hold the pipes in the position shown in Figs. 2 and 3, \\'hereb.\' the.\1 will be exposed to the direct- 'tlalne ot the burners.
ln all devices ot this character much better results are obtained when the burners are used t'or heating cooking utensils orthe like because. the heat is reflected and substantially confined about the coils.
Haring thus described the invention what.) is claimed isln combination. a. plurality ot' burners, each colnl'irising a tubular body having a plurality otl separated burne arms formed thereon `and extending entirely above the body and over-hanging the same at opposite 70 sides. said burner arms having ditterent lengths and said body having integral projections formed thereon at each end, said projections connecting with the end burner arms, and a` continuous Water coil supportet'Lon said projections and bent in serpentine form around and 'between the arms of each burner'and subjected to the. direct Haine thereof.
in testimony whereoic we atlix our signa- 80 tures iii presence ot two witnesses.
