To all whom it may concern:`
Be it 'known that I, FRANK L. REISING, a citizenVl of the United States, residing at Piper City, in the county of Ford and State of Illinois, have invented .certain new and useful Improvements in Attachments for Pneumatic Stackers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates toV pneumatic straw stackers andmore particularly to means for preventing material discharged therefrom being' scattered.
An important object is to adapt these devices to allow the deposit of straw at points in a widei` radius than that obtained by the customary pivoted 'distributer having a stationary hood whereby the edge portions of a stack may be built up satisfactorily.
A articular 'object of the invention is .to provlde a`novel form of .construction for supportin such a device, which will be adapted. or engagement with any of the usual pneumatic s tackers already in. use.
Anim ort'ant object. is to provide such a device w ich may manufactured cheaply.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the'following description, and
it. will be understood that changes in the specific structure shown and described may 4be made withinvthe scope of the claim without departing from the spirit ofthe invention.
In the drawings forming a p ortion of this specilication, land in which like. numerals l 35 -several views, 'Figure 1"'is aside elevationv of reference `indicate similar parts in the of ay pneumatic stacker equipped with the present invention, Fig. 2 isa top view thereof, Fig. 3 is a fragmentary detail view showing the lowering and `hoisting means, Fig.
41s a'de'tail cross section of the stacker tube and mechanism on the line- 4-4 of Fig. 1,
Fig. 5 is a plan of .one4 of the 'guide vyokes, Fig. 6 is a plan of' a modified form of yoke, Fig. 7 'is a fragmentary section showingthe securing means for the hood.
the' stacking tube10', whc Ainaygbe 4of any suitable construction, and engaged around the tube -in longitudinal spaced relation` therev are two guide yokes- 11 comprising resilient clamp., 'arxrilsengaged around the tube and secured rying nuts 153. e' guide members are formed of met-al and have a plurality of spaced .guide openngsl' thereon through# 'ner ends ofthe rods are securel lyhfneans of bolts 12 car-v out their len-gthiso the 'i peripherally of the tube en;
engaged thereon.- The. guldes are bentoutward theje e 17 y gage aShomive-f' Ita' r I this construction may" ef'accomp A specificatie of Lettersrnt'eatl Patentaiggsgqgl a minimum cost, both for material and labor in making. The guide .openings of the two guides are dis osed in registry lon itudinally ofthe tu e, and receive slidab y therethrou a plurality of rod members 18 enga ed at their upper ends through a series o perforations 19 inthe deflector 20'which comprises aslightly convex piece of sheet material projecting some distance beyond the periphery of the tube -l0 onthe opposite side from the `rods 18. The rods have their upper end portions tenoned,
threadedand secured by means of the nuts 18 screwed'against the deflector, sc that the deflecton is held vsecurely thereon against longitudinal movement. The' lower or in-` heldl in a yoke 21 which holds the rods -rigidlyagain'st relative Vlongitudinal movement. V
Secured. to the tube, 110" intermediatelyof the vguide members 11, there is 'apulley 22, around which thereis engaged4 a :chain 23 secured to the yoke 21 ,and extending downwardly around a. drum 25pro'vided with "a suitable crank, thence upwardly where it .is
again engaged with the yoke21. It be seen that -b operation of the' crank the device may be either hoistedor lowered as' desired for rdeflection of Straw passing through the` tube at various distances from its mouth. The'drum is carried upon'a suitable support which may be fastened ytothe -tube as 4illustrated when i the delivering tube extends from the bottom of a machine near the ground convenient to the hand of an operatona Fomitheforegoing itfwill be seenthat by means of the guide clamps V1l the device may and by means o the crankedfdrum the straw ma be deliveredl longitudinally; 'at various distances from the 1pc, 'whic in vcombination with the. .pivotel 'movement o'f the pipe, enables the distribution of the -straw over a stack in an Aeven manner obviating thel necessity for the use of manual .be attached to an tubularstacking. member, Referring to the drawin there is shown' t rovidelv wit re isterng openings, yokes which serves to de'ilect'the straw initiall at. oes
a slight angle from the tube so thatv it not enga e against the rods.
What 11s claimed is:
to the u sectiona ,tion aroundsai'd s out, said sections hav their abuttin en directed outwardly im [er edge of the mouth thereof, of
as o sed over sai abutting ends land provi `ing guide wais between said outwardly directed ends an the curved portlon of theV ands disposed. in parallel 'rela-` yokes, bolts assixig through said gokes and the outwar y directed ends, an the said ends to ether, additional guides seA l cured to one o said sections, rods slidable The combination with the spout of a pneumatic stacker-having a deflectmglip secured through said guides and yokes, a deector plate on the upper` ends of said rods, and means on the spout for moving said'rods through said guldes and yokes.
In testimon whereof I aix my signature, in presence o two witnesses.
