Be it knownv that I, Libri) B. HORNBECK,
` of Minneapolis, Hennepin county, Minnesota,
have invented certain new and-useful linprovements in Lamp-Hangers. of which the following is a specification.
The object ofmy invention is to provide a Support or hanger for' an incandescent light, which will take up the jar or shock incidentalv to the moving of furniture around a house, Athe passing of street carsy or any jar that would produce vibration ot" the lamp suilicientito cause breakage of the filament. l
A further obj-eetof the invention is to provide a lamp hanger havin means to pre vent the `transmission of vi )ration to the lamp and hence'adapt-y it for use on railway cars.
The inventlon consists generally in various constructions and combinations, all as hereinafter describedand partlcularly pointed -out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, Figure 1 is a ver-' tical, sectional view of anineandescent lamp holder, embodying my invention, Fig. 2 is a sectional view' illustrating the construction shown in Fig. 1 taken on a section line at an, angle to the section line of Fig. 1.

The bushing also prevents the wires from contacting with the metallic sleeve. The wires 4 are attached to bolts 15, which 'pass through the block l1l and conductors 16 lead from the bolts 15 to a lamp socket 17. This socket is carried by a.4 block 18. also otuinsulating material, and comparatively light coil springs 19 are interposed hetween the blocks 11 and 18 and support the lamp, forming a yielding carrying means therefor. The socket 17 is adapted to receive an ordinary incandescent light 2O arranged within the globe 10. Beneath the block- 18 is a butter plate 21, having an opening 22 to receive the lampvsocket-.-lhe butter pla-te is supported by rods 23 on the block 11, said rods passing through holes 24 in the block 18 and through brackets 25, which are lscoured to the block 11 andA to the cylindrical shell 8, which in turn, supports the globe '10. l am thus able to suspend thp globe and the shell, by which it is carried from the pipe 3, and relieve the lamp socket entirely of the weight of these parts, which are usually connected with'the socket and render it impracticable to employ light sup-V porting springs to take vup the vibration and prevent damage to the lamp filament. Seats 26 are formed in the butter plate 21, to reive balls 27 of yielding material, such as rubber. These balls are adapted to Contact with theconeave surfaces28 provided in the under siderofthe block 18 and cushion the said block. The distance between the block 18 and the plate 21 can be regulated by the adjustment of the rods 23.

l2. The combination of a hanger, a lamp socket pivotally connected therewith, a casing inclosing said socket, a shell having a sliding contact with said casing and permitting the tilting thereof with respect .to said hanger, for the purpose specified.
