IMPROVED COMPOSITION FOR PAINT.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making pan of the same.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ROBERT LOVE, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new Composition for Paint, which I call Loves Excelsior Paint, suitable and adapted for use in painting railroad-cars, ships, houses, and all kinds of painting upon metal, wood, cloth, &c.; and its advantages consist in cheapness, durability, andimperviousness to either salt or fresh water, and it dries and becomes hardand ready for use much sooner than ordinary paint, and it covers or fills the grain of wood much more effectually, and much less is required, than of ordinary paint, to make a per feet coat or covering, and it will not crack or peel, either from the efi'ect of heat or frost.
I use, in the preparation of this paint, the following ingredients and proportions, viz, one pound caouichouc, four pounds guin-copal, seven pounds guin-damniar, six pounds gum-thus, two gallons spirits of turpentine, and one gallon of linseed-oil, all mixed in the manner following:
I put the caoutchouc, with a sufficient quantity of the oil and turpentine to dissolve it, into a close-cov- The manufacture of the herein-described compound,
which I denominate Loves Excelsior Paint, substantially as described.
Also, the compound herein specifiedfor the purposes set forth.
