WATCH-CHARM.

To all whom it may concern:

Beitknown that I, ERNEST FUCHS, a citizen of the Republic of the United States of America. residing at Guadalajara, in' the State of Jalisco and Republic of Mexico, have invented new and useful Improvements in Hitch-Charms, of which the following is a. specification.

"This invention relates to improvements in watch charms, and the primary object of the invention is to provide a watch charm com prising an ornamental body portion havingi construction and combination of parts hereinafter fully` described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings there has been illustrated a simple and preferred embodiment of the improvement, and in which drawings,

Figure 1 is a front elevation of a watch charm constructed in accordance with the present invention.` Fig.. 2 is a front elevation of the inner or scale member removed from the outer shell. Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the same. Fig. 4 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view of the same. Fig. 5 is a `tert-ical transverse sectional View of Fig. 1. Fig. 6 is an enlarged det-ail sectional view illustrating the spring compensating device.- Fig. 7 is a bottom plan view of Fig; 1.

` The improved charm comprises essentially an outer member or cas1ng2 and an inner `member or scale 3. The outer member 3 is preferably circular in cross section, and may be of any .desired ornamental design.' The lower 4end of the outer member or casing 2 is provided with a seal 4 upon which the initials of the owner may be designed and the same employed for stamping letters or making'an impression upon the seal of a letter. The upper end of the member 2 is open and its inner wall is provided withthreads 5 which extend a suitable distance and which are adapted to engage with similar threads 6 provided upon the upper 'circular portion of the member 8. above the top of the member 1 and this projecting portion is provided with suitable eye 7 whereby the catch lof a watch chain may be connected with the charm. The body of -the member 3 below its threaded. portion 6 is provided with aflattened face 8, the same having a central vertical slit or opening 9 through which is adapted to project the indicating hands. The flattened face 8` is provided with suitable graduations positioned adjacent the ends of the flattened face 8', and the indicator 10 is preferably provided with two hands to contact with the graduations upon both of .the edges of the face 8. The indicator 10 is connected with a tubular member 11 which is adapted to. slide upon a depending'rod I2 carried by the member 6. The tubular member 11 is constructed ot' some suitable resilient material and has' its lower extremity slittedso as to provide a pair of engagino1 jaws 13. These j aws lhave one of their Faces substantially flattened as illustrated in Figs. 2 and 5 of the drawings so that the same is readily grasped obtaining a bearing upon the article to be weighed.

The numeral 14 designates a helical spring. which bears against the odset portion ofthe tube provided by the indicator arm 10, and the lower extremity of this spring is mounted within the threaded bushing 15 which is rotatably connected with a threaded opening provided wit-hin the .lower portion of the member 3.
