To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, PERCYP. HOPP, a citizen of the United States of America, re.- siding at Bronx, New York city, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Awning-Supporters, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention relates to means for supporting awnings over windows or doors and has for its object to provide a support for the head rod of the awning which will adjust itself in accordance with the thickness of said rod and which can be readily applied to and removed from the latter and does not require any holes being made in the fabric of the awning.

I accomplish my object by the device illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which similar reference letters denote corresponding parts and in which-- Figure l is a side view of my support shown as applied to the head rod of an awning, Fig. 2 is a rear elevation thereof,

Figs. 3 and 4 are a top plan view and a side view respectively of one part of my support, Figs. 5 and 6 are an elevation and side view respectively of another part thereof and Fig. 7 is a perspective view of the awning suspended by means of my new supports.

My support is composed of two complemental disconnected pieces A, B (Figs. 3 to G). The piece A consists of a concaved plate a of circular cross section formed integrally with lateral rearwardly and downwardly curved arms 6?, the lower ends a of which are bent upward to form hooks and are separated from the opposite lower edge a of the plate a. The second piece B consists of a concaved plate 6 of substantially the same curvature as a and provided with lateral extensions, 1), and an upper extension 6 extending in a straight line about perpendicularly to the horizontal central axis of the plate 5 Z). The width of the plate I) is about equal or somewhat smaller than that of the space 0 between the two lateral arms a of the piece A, so that the piece B can be passed through the said space 0 and adjust ed in a position, in which the plates a, b b when assembled will form a cylindrical loop or hearing. In this position the lateral extensions will bear against the rear parts of the arms a of the piece A, while the side edges of the extension 19 will lie between the inner edges of the said arms and thereby prevent a lateral .displacement of piece B relative to piece A. The loop or bearing thus formed serves to receive the head rod (Z to which the upper part of the awning e is secured in usual manner.

The upwardly extending part or shank b is perforated as at b to be hooked or otherwise fastened to the part of the wall above the window or door over which the awning is to be applied. The hook-shaped ends a serve as supports for the pulleys f, over which the adjusting cords g for the awning e are guided. The awning e extends forwardly and downwardly from the head rod through the space it between the lower edges of the two plates a and b b. In accordance with the thickness of the rod (Z these lower edges of the plates will be more or less apart from one another.

What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. In combination with an awning having a head rod, of a support or bearing for said rod, composed of two disconnected concaved pieces of which one is adapted to be stationarily secured in position and to embrace the said rod from the rear, and the other to loosely engage the former, and embrace the said rod from the front, so as to permit the passage of the awning from the rod between the lower ends of said two pieces and to be capable of adjusting themselves according to the thickness of said rod.

An awning support, comprising two complemental disconnected curved members, of which one is formed with lateral arms and the other with lateral extensions, the latter member being adapted to be stationarily secured in position and to be loosely engaged between the lateral arms of the former member so as to bear with its lateral extensions against said arms and to form with the said former member a loop or bear- 111 5 An awning support, comprising two complemental disconnected curved members,
