. Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Apr. 11, 1911.
Application filed January 21, 1910. Serial No. 589,400.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known. that we, HARRY A. GOLLOBIN,
va subject of the. Russian Empire, and NEW- TON A. Bonnsrnm, a citizenofthelUnited 6 'States and residents of Newark, -in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have :invented a new and useful Improve- S ment in Artificial. Teeth, of which the following is a specification.
artificial teeth' and has more particularly for 'its object to provide an improved form of backing for artificial tooth crowns .used
in connectlon with bridgework.
A practical embodiment of our invention is represented in the accompanying drawings, Which- .Figure 1 represents the backing in side elevation, the position of a tooth crown be- 20. ing shown in dotted lines in connection there- ,with, Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the same,
Fig. 3 is asection taken in the plane of the line A-A-of Fig. 2, looking in the direction of the" arrows, Fi 4 is a detailside view of the pin, and Fig. 5 is a detailside view of the base.
The base 1 of the backing and the pin 2 are separable, as shown. The base is shaped to. conform to the base of the tooth crown .in connection with which it is to be used, which base is provided with a centrally arranged hole therethrough for receiving the pin 2. A divided seat 3, 4, is provided for receiving the fian e 5 at the base of the pin 2. The base 1 is further provided along its back portion-with a curved shoulder 6 arranged to enter a curved seat in the lingual wall of the tooth crown at the base thereof. This base is further provided with 40 a circumferential flange 7 arranged to over-' lap the entire base of the tooth crown.
The pin 2 is hollow and is also tapered as, for-instance, conical, so as to coact with tooth {crowns having tapered pin receiving holes 4-5 therein.
Our invention relates toimprovements in- What we claim is z-- 1. A backing for an.artificial tooth crown comprising a base shaped to conform to the base of the tooth crown in connection with which it is to be used, which base is provided with a centrally arranged hole therethrough, and a hollow tapered pin projecting throu h said hole in the base and separable from t e base and arranged to enter a tapered pin receiving hole in the tooth crown.
2. A backing for an artificial tooth crown comprising a base shaped to conform to the base of the tooth crown in connection with which it is to be used, which base is provided with a centrally arranged hole therethrough, and a hollow tapered pin projecting through said hole in the base and sgparable from the base, said pin' being provi ed with a flange and said base being provided with a seat for receiving the flange.
3. A backing for anartificial tooth crown comprising a base and a pin, the said base having a curved shoul ler' along its back portion only adapted to nter a curved seat in the outer edge of the lingual wall of the tooth crown at the base thereof.
4. A backin for an artificial tooth crown comprising a %ase and a pin, the said base havmg a curved shoulder along its back portion adapted to enter a curved seat in the lingual wall of the tooth crown at the base thereof, the said base being further provided with a circumferential flange adapted to overlap theentire base of the tooth crown.
In testimony, that we claim the foregoing as our invention, we have signed our names in presence of two witnesses, this 14th day of. January, 1910.
