OILING DEVICE IN COMBINATION WITH GLASS-WORKING MACHINE.
Specification of Letters Patent. Application filed August 27, 1910. Serial No. 579,265.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES E. FooLn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Zanesville, in the county of Muskingum and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Oiling Device in Combination with a Glass-Working Machine, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in glass-Working machines having molds to form blanks, air cylinder, plunger and spring plate in cooperative combination with a device for oiling the molds; and the objects of my invention are, first, to oil the blank-forming molds, so that the gathered glass, when deposited in said molds, will not stick or adhere to any part thereof, but will flow to all parts as desired; and, second, for the glass-working machine, automatically, to operate said oiler. I attain these objects by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 is a blank-forming machine combined with said oiler; and Fig. 2 is a detailed view of said oiler.

1 is the stand supporting air cylinder 2 which contains plunger 3 which is successively forced downward by the air and upward by spring plate 1, in said air cylinder, and thereby, successively plunged into and drawn out of the gathered glass deposited in molds 5, as they are, respectively, revolved to the position beneath the plunger, thereby forming the blanks to be blown. Stand 1 also supports the retaining frame 6 of the oiler comprising oil cup 7 the bottom of which opens into oil duct 8, having gage cock 9, said oil duct running to valve 10 provided with valve seat 11 and opening 12 through which the oil is forced into the blank molds by means of valve rod 13 in combination with spring 14: which is adapted to be compressed between shoulders 15 of the valve rod and the top or lid 16 of the oil on when the secondary operating lever 17 is ifted by hook 18 which is ad ustably attached by means of inclined slot 19 and slot pin 20 to the primary operating lever 21 having the spindle 22 which is attached to and is vertically reciprocatedby and with spring plate 1; and when carried down as shown in Fig. 1, hook 18 being beveled on its under side slides down the nose 23 beveled on its upper side of lever 17 until it falls below said nose, whereupon slot pin 20 slides to the bottom of inclined slot 19 from its top where it is previously forced by the operation of hook 18 sliding down nose 23, and thereupon hook 18 engages the under side of nose 23 as in Fig. 1 and lifts lever 17, as spring plate 1 carries up lever 21, until the end of the nose 23 of lever 17 becomes flush with the left face of the left side of the retaining frame 6 of the oiler, whereupon lever 17 by means of spring 1 1, which is combined with it by means of link 2 1 forming pin and socket joints with each, is forced down again to its normal position, whereupon as above said oil is forced through opening 12 into the molds, the heat of which burns said oil into oily smoke which flows over and adheres to all the inside of said molds, thereby oiling them as above said.
I claim 1. In the combination with a glass-working machine having molds, of an oiler adapted to oil said molds, the combination with the spring-plate, of said machine, of the primary lever adapted to operate said oiler, substantially as described.
2. The combination with a glass-working machine having molds, of an oiler having a primary lever provided with an inclined slot adjustably engaging the slot pin of a beveled hook adapted to engage the beveled nose of a secondary lever in combination with means adapted to oil the molds of said machine, substantially as described.
3. The combination with a glass-working machine having molds, of an oiler having a primary lever provided with an inclined slot adjustably engaging the slot pin of a beveled hook adapted to engage the beveled nose of a secondary lever combined with the link forming the pin and socket joint with said secondary lever and also with the valve rod which is combined with the spring adapted to operate it and with the oil duct and with the valve, substantially as described.
