To all whom it may concern:
Be it known thatl, HERMAN Pines, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Michigan City, county ot' Laporte, and
State of Indiana, have invented certain new anduseful Improvements in Refrigerators,
of which the following is a specification,
and which is illustrated'in the accompanyingr drawings, forming apart thereof.
This invention relates to imprmements in refrigerators, being applicable as well to domestic refrigerators as to refrigerator ears, and its object is to improve the construction of devices of this character, especially with view to increasing the circulation of air through both the storage compartment and the 'ompartment for containingl ice or other cooling agent.

In refrigerator car construction it is desirable that access may be freely had to theV ice compartment for 'the purpose. of cleain ing, and to that end the partition separating the two compartments may beopenable.
Such form of lconstruction is illustrated in Figs. 7 and 8, wherein a portion of the partition is shown :is taking the Iorm of a pair of doors 54, 55, hinged adiacenti the side walls of the cargas shown at 5G, 57, 58, 59,

The ini-'ention majY be applied to a domestic refrigerator in substantially the same manner as shown in Figs. 5 and 6, wherein the. side walls of such a device are shown its rear wall at 41 and its door at. 42. In
such :restructure the partition bet-Ween the' two compartments need not be strengthened by intermediate nprights or cross-bars. As shown, the framing of the partition comprises a lower sill 4.3, nprights 44, 45, atlthe ecosse rear and front of the refrigerator, and a cross-bar vt6 at. thetop of the refrigerator'. A. single facing plate 4:7 is shown as extending from the sill 43 to the cross-bar 4G on the storage compartment side of the partition, the edges of this plate being spaced apart from the nlnights 44, 45, to provide .peningsfor admission of air; and therc'is n pair of facing plates 48, 49, forming the acc of the partition directed 'toward Athe Y.cooling compartment., 'these plates extending respectively from the upright 44 and the .upright 45 toward but. not quite to the vertical median line of the partition. These various .plates may be Secured to the framework of the partition and to each other in a manner similar to that shown in Figs. l, Q and 3, and need l not be shown and described in detail.
I claim as my inventionl. A. refrigerator comprising a walled structure haring a hollow partition with offset openings in its faces and inclined fines connecting such openings and extending parallel with the surfaces of the partition.

In a refrigerator, a partition separating the compartment lor containing the cooling agent from the storage compart- .ment,.such partition comprising, in combination, studs or bars spaced apart, plates forming the faces of the partition, each plate being spaced apart from one of a pair Iof studs or bars, such spacing of opposing plates being out of register, and inclined tine plates fitting between such opposed plates.

In ay refrigerator. a partition comprising stads or bars, inclined plates connecting adjacent stads or bars and extending transverselr ofthe partition, and face plates, each 'extending From one stud or bar toward but spaced apart. from an adjacent stud or bar, the face plat-es of one side of the partition engaging the studs or bars at the lower ends of the inclined plates and those of the opposite side of the partition engaging the studs or bars at; the upper ends of the inclined plates.
